, providing accurate, strategic, and timely pricing for scaffolding, hoists, shrink wrap, and shoring scopes.
As an Estimator at A&K, you will work closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to scope out temporary access requirements and build confidence in cost, sequencing, and constructability. This is a unique opportunity to work on

Key Focus Areas
Estimating + Cost Planning
Prepare detailed, project-specific estimates (Class D to Class A) based on architectural drawings, site visits, and spec documents
Conduct quantity take-offs and material/labor calculations for scaffolding, shrink wrap, hoists, garbage chutes, and shoring systems
Coordinate scope with engineering and field operations to ensure accuracy and buildability
Support the creation of phased access plans, elevations, and cost breakdowns
Review constructability, staging, and sequencing impacts on cost and schedule
Tendering + Client Engagement
Interpret tender packages and RFPs from general contractors, developers, and building owners
Collaborate with clients to clarify site logistics, access limitations, and sequencing requirements
Prepare and submit clear, competitive proposals that reflect project-specific conditions
Track bid outcomes and maintain a pipeline of upcoming project opportunities
Collaboration + Handoff
Work with project management and field supervisors to transition awarded estimates into construction
Participate in pre-job meetings and clarify pricing assumptions, exclusions, and contingencies
Continuously improve internal estimating systems, cost libraries, and workflows
Who You Are
You are a detail-oriented construction professional with a strong understanding of site operations and temporary structures. You have experience reading drawings, coordinating scopes, and working in fast-paced environments with multiple moving parts. You're proactive, communicative, and comfortable engaging directly with general contractors and project stakeholders.
Qualifications
3+ years of estimating experience in scaffolding estimating, formwork, civil, or commercial construction
Experience with quantity take-offs, access planning, and construction sequencing
Proficiency in Excel, Bluebeam, and ability to work with drawings in PDF/CAD format
Knowledge of engineered scaffold systems, hoists, and containment (an asset)
Familiarity with WorkSafeBC and CSA construction standards
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Valid BC driver's license for occasional site visits
Diploma or degree in Construction, Engineering, or a related field is an asset

Pay: $70,000.00-$110,000.00 per year
