About Goodwerk

Goodwerk Construction is a vertically integrated builder specializing in high-density, multi-residential, and student housing projects across Canada.

Our upcoming 10-storey prefab concrete high-rise in Saskatoon (285 units / 670 beds, 2 levels underground) is a flagship project that will redefine construction standards in the province.

The Opportunity

We're looking for an entrepreneurial Construction Director -- a proven leader who can build a team, drive execution, and deliver a complex project from the ground up.

Reporting directly to ownership, you'll oversee all phases of delivery -- from pre-construction planning and contract management through execution, quality control, and turnover.
You'll work closely with the Superintendent to ensure the project meets Goodwerk's highest standards for safety, quality, and schedule -- while maintaining clear, data-driven reporting to ownership.

Key Responsibilities

Pre-Construction & Planning

Lead the review of drawings, bid forms, and trade scopes to ensure alignment before contract award. Conduct scope gap analysis to eliminate overlaps or omissions between trades. Support the development of subcontract packages and negotiate contracts with clarity and precision. Prepare construction execution plans, logistics layouts, and crane positioning strategies. Collaborate with estimating, design, and procurement to ensure cost and constructability alignment.

Execution & Schedule Management

Oversee all on-site construction from mobilization through occupancy. Partner with the Superintendent to plan manpower, sequencing, and daily priorities. Build and maintain the master construction schedule and 2-6 week lookahead plans. Identify risks, adjust phasing, and implement recovery strategies to protect the critical path. Provide weekly progress reports and monthly summaries to ownership outlining performance, risks, and mitigation steps.

Contracts & Financial Oversight

Manage subcontracts, purchase orders, and vendor relationships. Track costs, productivity, and progress billing to maintain budget accuracy. Review and approve change orders, ensuring proper documentation and justification. Maintain transparent financial forecasting and reporting.

Leadership & Culture

Build, mentor, and lead a high-performance site team including Superintendents, Field Engineers, Coordinators, and Safety Officers. Establish clear expectations, measurable goals, and a culture of ownership, accountability, and integrity. Foster open communication between trades, consultants, and ownership.

Quality, Safety & Compliance

Champion Goodwerk's safety-first culture, ensuring full OHS compliance. Lead QA/QC programs, inspections, and deficiency tracking. Ensure timely coordination of permits, inspections, and occupancy milestones. Maintain a clean, professional, and organized site environment.

Qualifications

15+ years of progressive construction experience, including leadership of multi-storey & prefab projects. Proven ability to deliver large, schedule-driven builds ($50M+) from pre-construction through completion. Expertise in pre-construction planning, scope definition, bid management, and contract execution. Strong background in budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and scheduling. Experienced in prefabricated/precast concrete erection and crane coordination. Proficient with Procore, Fieldwire, PlanGrid, MS Project, or Primavera. Excellent communication, leadership, and decision-making skills.
Preferred

Experience with student housing or multi-residential high-rise construction. Background in Civil Engineering, Construction Management Familiarity with design-assist / design-build project delivery.
What We Offer
