Summary



The role of

Construction Director

is to oversee the successful, profitable and timely completion of all construction projects within their scope.


KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES



Oversees all construction projects from inception to completion Mentors and coaches team members including design and PM's Manages and develops team members Leads the planning, budgeting, and resource allocation for all projects within the region Collaborates with design teams, workplace teams, and client directors to ensure mutually beneficial completion of all projects Drives operational excellence and efficiency, recommends areas for improvement when possible Continuously pursue a culture of 'Safety at all times' while actively engaging employees, subcontractors, and vendors to reinforce safe behaviors at all job sites. Engages in business/relationship development amongst Clients Leads in the proposal process for new and negotiated work Leads the contract management of all projects Leads the risk management process for all projects and implements mitigation measures Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate construction projects from start to finish according to schedule, specifications and budget. Maintain or improve on-time delivery and maximize delivery turnaround and continuously improve communication to maximize customer experience. Review construction project budget estimates. Plan and prepare construction schedules and milestones and monitor progress against established schedules. Review contracts and negotiate revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements with architects, consultants, clients, suppliers and subcontractors. Develop and implement quality control programs. Prepare progress reports and issue progress schedules to clients. Hire and supervise the activities of subcontractors.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS



A university degree in civil engineering or a college diploma in construction technology is usually required with 15+ years of experience on progressively managerial positions. Extensive experience in the construction industry may substitute for post-secondary education requirements. Professional engineering status or construction trade certification may be an asset.
