If you answered yes, our Whiteshell Laboratories (WL) site located near Pinawa, Manitoba is looking for a Construction and Maintenance Electrician to join the team. The Construction and Maintenance Electrician plans, installs, tests, inspects, troubleshoots and services all types of industrial electrical equipment that are vital to the operation of commercial and industrial businesses. These include all equipment or components directly or indirectly exposed to electric power such as motors, generators, pumps, lighting systems, and associated electrical and electronic controls. They must have the experience to safely remove electrical services and systems as well as assess the suitability of existing services for future use Does this peek your interest? Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL) employees perform all duties in accordance with established health and safety and regulations/guidelines, policies and procedures (i.e. utilizing personal protective equipment as per safe work procedures). Notifying management or supervisor of all occurrences, injuries, illnesses or safety and health concerns which are likely to harm themselves, their co-workers or any other on the premises in a timely manner and in accordance with established reporting requirements.

What will you be doing?

\xc2\xb7 Reading and interpreting building plans, electrical, mechanical and architectural drawings and electrical code specifications to determine wiring installations.

\xc2\xb7 Cutting, threading, bending, assembling and installing conduits and other types of electrical conductor enclosures and fittings.

\xc2\xb7 Pulling wire through conduits and holes in walls and floors.

\xc2\xb7 Laying out, assembling, installing, repairing, maintaining, connecting and test electrical fixtures, apparatus control equipment and wiring for fire alarm, communication, light, heat and power systems.

\xc2\xb7 Positioning, installing and maintaining distribution and control equipment such as circuit breaker panel boards, fuse enclosures, switch boxes, pullboxes and related devices.

\xc2\xb7 Splicing, joining and connecting wire to form circuits.

\xc2\xb7 Installing data cabling and fibre optic systems.

\xc2\xb7 Testing electrical circuits to ensure integrity and safety.

\xc2\xb7 Identifying and reporting any real or potential safety hazards; wearing all safety equipment related to the position as well as participating in all safety-training offered through the facility.

\xc2\xb7 Adhering to Workplace Safety and health procedures, WHIMIS program; keeping current with practices; working in a prudent and safe manner and informing other employees if they are using unsafe work practices or equipment.

\xc2\xb7 Maintains confidentiality in all matters.

\xc2\xb7 Other duties as assigned by manager.

What we are looking for:

\xc2\xb7 Security clearance eligibility required: Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat \xe2\x80\x9cStandard on Security Screening\xe2\x80\x9d and the \xe2\x80\x9cPolicy on Government Security\xe2\x80\x9d.

\xc2\xb7 Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.

\xc2\xb7 Completed apprenticeship training or equivalent and be qualified as a Construction & Maintenance Electrician with a 309A or HC License/Interprovincial Red Seal ticket.

\xc2\xb7 Ability to troubleshoot situations and work with peers and other stakeholder to resolve issues in a timely manner.

\xc2\xb7 Must be punctual, dependable and safety minded.

\xc2\xb7 Detail oriented with the ability to meet deadlines.

\xc2\xb7 Exceptional organizational skills, able to prioritize and time management is required;

\xc2\xb7 Ability to understand detailed information is essential.

\xc2\xb7 Demonstrates responsibility and is accountable for accurately handling the details associated with one\xe2\x80\x99s work.

\xc2\xb7 Conscientious about accuracy.

\xc2\xb7 Ability to adapt to a changing environment and response with initiative.

\xc2\xb7 Excellent interpersonal communication skills and proven ability to maintain successful working relations at all levels within the organization and with external stakeholders.

\xc2\xb7 Highly motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.

\xc2\xb7 Able to work extended hours and off normal work shifts to support project needs.

Formal training and demonstrated proficiency in the following areas of study:

\xc2\xb7 Industrial and Electrical Codes

\xc2\xb7 Electrical Practice and Safety

\xc2\xb7 Tools and Instruments

\xc2\xb7 Electrical Theory

\xc2\xb7 Alternating Current and Direct Current Theories

\xc2\xb7 Basic and Industrial Electronics

\xc2\xb7 Single-Phase Transformers, Three-Phase Motors and Controls

\xc2\xb7 Electrical/Electronic Metering Methods

\xc2\xb7 Rotating Machines and Controls

\xc2\xb7 Programmable Logic Controllers

Working Conditions:

\xc2\xb7 Must be able to work in extreme outdoors temperatures ranging from +30 \xc2\xb0 C to -40 \xc2\xb0 C.

\xc2\xb7 May be required to perform overtime.

\xc2\xb7 Must possess normal physical agility necessary to perform all aspects of the work that involves bending, lifting and mobility.

\xc2\xb7 Must be capable of wearing and working in protective clothing and using equipment as required.
