Job Summary
The Constable is responsible for being the customer contact for all policing and security needs. The position requires to respond to emergency calls while sometimes working irregular schedules including days, nights, weekends and holidays to protect a 24/7 operation.
Major Responsibilities
xc2xb7 Develop working partnerships with municipal, provincial, and federal officials, major industries and local businesses that affect CN.
xc2xb7 Identify high-risk locations and develop subsequent action plans to secure and prevent losses.
xc2xb7 Perform the investigation and prosecution of all criminal incidents and participate actively in the enforcement and promotion of federal and provincial laws dealing with railway safety.
xc2xb7 Participate in regular public speaking.
xc2xb7 Manage targeted traffic and trespass enforcement.
xc2xb7 Conduct operation lifesaver presentations
Working Conditions
xc2xb7 Frequent travel over a large geographical area
xc2xb7 Preference will be given to qualified applicants in the geographical area
xc2xb7 Available to work shifts, weekends, and holidays when necessary.
Requirements
xc2xb7 Accredited law enforcement program or equivalent
xc2xb7 Valid P.A.R.E. certificate for candidate who do not currently hold and accredited law enforcement program certificate
xc2xb7 Certified or eligible to certify for First Aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
xc2xb7 Valid drivers' licence
xc2xb7 Resides within 50 km of the posting
xc2xb7 Demonstrates good teamwork and maintain positive interactions with other departments and local law enforcement agencies cooperating in matters of mutual concern
xc2xb7 Possesses sound judgment, professionalism, be autonomous and show initiative
xc2xb7 Makes informed and timely decisions to get things done.
xc2xb7 Fluently bilingual both written and verbal (English, French) *
*Any experience/education/skills/knowledge for these above would be considered as an asset
Training
The incumbent receives an on-the-job training with a Coach Officer. Successful candidates that do not hold a certificate from an accredited police college will be required to successfully complete a 3 to 6 months, Basic Recruit Training program at one of our approved Police colleges.
