Position Details: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: Starting salary at $65,100, based on a 35-hour work week.
Location: Amherst, Nova Scotia/Hybrid

What You Will Do

As a member of the Atlantic Team, you will be responsible for managing all existing DUC assets in Nova Scotia and the New Brunswick border region, including partner relations.

Practical experience with engineered water control structures, fish ladders, dams, construction, land management and administration, conservation projects and programs, agriculture, engineering and/or biology, would all be considered assets to this very diverse and challenging opportunity.

You need to be an enthusiastic team player and an effective communicator who can build positive working relationships with various staff of local governments, landowners, industry, agricultural producers, volunteers and other conservation agencies. Must enjoy working outdoors and routine travel.

You possess strong leadership and interpersonal skills. You have demonstrated expertise in program planning and implementation and contract management and tendering. You are self-motivated, enjoy a complex, changing environment and can manage numerous projects on tight deadlines.

Requirements

  • A post-secondary degree or technologist diploma in a related discipline; Engineering, Agriculture, Forestry, Environmental, or equivalent practical field experience will also be considered
  • 5 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in conservation program delivery, natural resource management techniques and waterfowl habitat requirements
  • Analysis of repair and maintenance needs for DUC wetland restoration projects
  • Experience managing contracts and contractors, supervising construction involving heavy equipment and working around water
  • Basic mechanical aptitude
  • Knowledge of engineering design, hydrology and construction involving heavy equipment considered an asset
  • Strong planning, reporting and project management skills
  • Knowledge of Federal, Provincial and Municipal regulations and policies pertinent to the operation and maintenance of DUC\xe2\x80\x99s conservation projects
  • Awareness of provincial Occupational Health and Safety Regulations
  • Understanding and experience with environmental regulations and best management practices
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to work long/flexible hours outdoors and travel as required
  • A valid class 5 driver\xe2\x80\x99s license
  • Experience in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, ArcGIS, or GPS is a definite asset
  • An understanding of wetlands, agricultural and forestry practices are an asset
