Muniworth is an innovative SaaS startup dedicated to municipal financial forecasting, empowering local governments to optimize budgeting and strategic financial planning. We are currently building an advanced machine learning (ML) and AI team to develop internal tooling, enhance our web applications, and create customized solutions for our municipal clients. Who You Are:




You're a curious, motivated Computer Science student with exposure to ML algorithms and concepts and ideally experienced in data science or cloud platforms. You're eager to join a collaborative team where you'll have significant opportunities to contribute meaningfully. Confident yet eager to learn, you're excited to take on responsibilities and grow alongside experienced developers.

What You'll Do:



Support the design, build, and deployment of machine learning pipelines and model serving infrastructure, contributing to reliable ML workflows from training to production. Write clean, maintainable code following software engineering best practices - while this is a co-op role, you should be motivated to create readable, well-structured solutions that support collaborative development. Work closely with our Lead ML Engineer and ML/AI team on projects spanning classical ML techniques as well as natural language processing (NLP), large language models (LLMs), and retrieval augmented generation (RAG). Assist in optimizing model performance and scalability, building hands-on experience with ML frameworks, model optimization, and cloud computing platforms. Contribute to internal ML tools and customized AI-driven solutions for municipal clients, gaining insight into how advanced analytics and stakeholder requirements influence product direction and development strategy. Take on specific AI-focused projects with mentorship and guidance, gaining experience across development, maintenance, performance monitoring, and exploration of new ML approaches and techniques.

Requirements



What You Bring:



Enrollment in a Computer Science program (or related discipline) with completed coursework in ML and AI fundamentals. Some practical experience in data science, including implementing ML, NLP, or LLM-based solutions using libraries and tools such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Hugging Face Ability to critically think about ML and AI problems, including evaluating model performance and identifying potential biases or limitations. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, essential for thriving in a collaborative team environment. Willingness to commit to a minimum 8-month term, with potential to extend up to one year. Experience working with cloud-based ML platforms such as Azure AI Foundry is a plus
