About the role:

The Compliance Testing Data & Reporting Manager is a key contributor to the success of the Enterprise Compliance Testing Team in its mandate to set the framework and best practices of Monitoring and Testing (M&T) across the Enterprise. As an essential element of Sun Life\xe2\x80\x99s Regulatory Compliance Management (RCM) Framework, M&T provides insights to the effectiveness of the organization\xe2\x80\x99s control environment. This Manager role will support the M&T Program by identifying, analyzing, and reporting M&T data that is pertinent to the progression of M&T activities, and develop best practices for the use of data by local teams in the M&T programs.

Reporting to the Director, Enterprise Compliance Testing, this role is an opportunity for an enthusiastic data professional with strong analytical and communication skills to produce insights and predictions from available data. While adding significant value to an evolving regulatory compliance program, the incumbent will gain exposure to all the business products, operations, and distribution channels across our global business.

What will you do?

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts, business data analysts and data stewards to identify and leverage relevant data sources that will enhance M&T activities (e.g., sampling methods); and enable sustainable M&T programs across the Enterprise
  • Enable visual storytelling through Microsoft and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Reformulate highly technical information into concise, understandable terms for Enterprise M&T presentations
  • Leverage excellent communication skills to work with cross-functional stakeholders and lead meetings to understand the requirements for the data-based enhancements and projects for enterprise compliance testing
  • Regularly contribute to M&T reporting with analytical insights on M&T data
  • Participate in technology projects to advance process efficiencies in M&T activities
  • Support the Director, Enterprise Compliance Testing by participating in the design, analysis, and reporting of M&T results to senior management
What do you need to succeed?
  • Minimum of 3 years data analytics experience
  • 3+ years experience with Excel (Proficient with pivot tables, V-look ups. Experience developing Macros is preferred)
  • 3+ years experience with Tableau
  • Can effectively present and report on trends and patterns identified through data analysis
  • Experience with data management and process improvement
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to speak/present to other professionals at various levels
  • Has a keen aptitude for learning new analytical tools
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience in life insurance/wealth management, or other financial services industry (e.g., retail banking, credit card, property, and casualty insurance)
  • Post-secondary education Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of, and experience with, risks and controls that pertain to financial and insurance regulations
Preferred Skills:
  • Internal/external audit or regulatory compliance experience in the financial services industry would be considered an asset
  • Analytical thinker with strong conceptual and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated work experience related to mining, cleansing, analyzing and/or reporting data
  • Organized and detail-oriented with the ability to make sound judgments
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Demonstrated writing and documentation skills
  • Strong knowledge of financial services industry, compliance issues and regulatory focus

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
