This position requires a proactive approach to identify opportunities for improvement while ensuring adherence to policies and regulations within the personal lines of insurance. This role requires several years of experience in the insurance industry, specifically in underwriting, client servicing, and brokerage operations, along with appropriate licensing as an insurance broker.

What does the Compliance Specialist do?

Regularly review insurance operations to ensure regulatory compliance and mitigate risks. Develop and implement internal policies that align with industry standards and promote accountability. Promptly address escalations, including branch, market, regulatory, and E&O cases. Conduct end-to-end case reviews and provide recommendations to the Compliance Committee. Respond to inquiries and complaints from regulatory bodies. Support the Compliance Committee and ensure timely follow-up on action items. Analyze compliance data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities. Liaise with clients on compliance matters, maintaining transparency and trust. Collaborate with departments such as underwriting and quality assurance to align compliance and operations. Implement and monitor quality assurance processes to uphold service standards. Utilize technology to streamline and improve compliance processes. Report compliance incidents promptly and establish feedback channels for staff to raise concerns.

Qualifications

Required: High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 7 years of proven experience in a related insurance role (underwriting, client servicing, or brokerage operations). Valid insurance broker license issued by a relevant regulatory body.Assets: Post-secondary education in Insurance, Economics, Law, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. Professional designations such as CIP, CAIB, CSIP, or CPIB.
