The position at a glance

Risk Independent Review and Control is responsible for the Model Risk Management framework for the BNP Paribas CUSO and IHC. Within RISK IRC there is a Model Governance team and several Model Validation groups. The Model Validation groups are responsible for performing an independent effective challenge of all modelling choices in accordance to internal policies, procedures and standards under the umbrella of Federal Reserve Board letter SR11-7. In addition, we participate to validation projects for the BNP Paribas Group based in Europe.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct independent quantitative reviews of models used within BNP Paribas in accordance with internal standards and regulatory guidance.
  • Provide challenge of conceptual soundness, reasonableness of model output, implementation and any other relevant modelling aspects impacting fit-for-use.
  • Work with validation managers to develop an appropriate validation plan to provide effective challenge commensurate with the level of model risk.
  • Work closely with stakeholders in Compliance, Product and Engineering - as well as with vendors - to help BNPP be compliant with model validation requirements in all of the areas we service.
  • Produce documentation of effective challenge process and materials to support committees in review and decisions.
  • Defend conclusions to management.
  • Assess ongoing model performance.
  • Contribute to the evolution and development of internal standards and procedures.
Qualifications

Minimum Required Qualifications
  • Master degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics or related field.
  • Experience producing high quality written technical documentation.
  • 5+ years of experience validating, developing or using BSA/AML, Fraud, OFAC and financial crime models \xe2\x80\x93 ideally those relevant to banking activities.
  • Programming experience in statistical or mathematical languages such as SAS, R, Python.
  • Experience working with large datasets.
  • Knowledge of the English language is required
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in performing and documenting rule testing and tuning activities including back-testing, above- and below-the-line testing, benchmarking and sensitivity analysis.
  • Experience or interest in Predictive Modeling and Data Science techniques.
  • Deep quantitative and statistical skills (time series analysis, logistic/ linear regression, and segmentation, AI or machine learning techniques).
  • Familiarity with OCC/NYDFS standards or other similar regulatory requirements globally.
