Compensation Fund Claims Coordinator



The Alberta Motor Vehicle Industry Council (AMVIC) is Alberta's automotive industry regulator. AMVIC is a public agency accountable to the Minister of Service Alberta and Red Tape Reduction and the Government of Alberta. AMVIC protects consumers and industry from unfair practices in the automotive business industry. Consumer protection and a fair marketplace are achieved through AMVIC-managed mandatory licensing for automotive businesses and salesperson registrations as required by the Consumer Protection Act.

AMVIC has an immediate opening for a Compensation Fund Claims Coordinator in our Edmonton office. If you are a self-motivated individual who enjoys working as part of a small team providing administrative support while maintaining the highest level of customer service and professionalism with claimants and stakeholders, we have an exciting opportunity for you to explore.

This position reports to the Manager of Legal Services and resides in the Edmonton, and on occasion overtime may be required to meet job demands with prior approval from the Manager of Legal Services.

Responsibilities:



Administration of the fund and all claims in compliance with the Consumer Protection Act*, Automotive Business Regulation, AMVIC Bylaw 2 - Compensation Fund and AMVIC Compensation Fund Policy
Ensure all claims are received and properly recorded in AMVIC's data management system Conduct initial review and confirmation of all claim application requirements Conduct an initial claim analysis including eligibility assessment Obtain all necessary supporting documentation including business licence status confirmation, registry searches including corporate registry and personal property registry, Black Book, CarFax and any other required information Correspond with claimants and other parties as required Provide administrative support to the Manager of Legal Services including drafting correspondence, updating reporting spreadsheets and other administrative support as required Prepare requisition forms for payment of approved claims from the fund Handle all inquiries pertaining to the fund Liaise with investigators where required regarding claims Ensure all information is up to date and maintained on AMVIC data management system and otherwise Assist in continued development of claims process and procedures for consistent administration of the fund Provide reporting and statistical analysis as required Ensure timeliness, accuracy, and relevance of information Considerable knowledge and ability to work within the organizational policies and procedures Provide additional administrative support including coordinating compensation fund appeal hearings and any other appeal hearings as required Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications and technical skills

:

Successful completion of post-secondary education in business administration, legal or administrative assistant, or equivalent work experience and education combined Three years' experience in an administrative role Experience working in a regulatory environment Understanding of administrative law and the principles of natural justice Experience with decision making responsibilities Regulatory compliance or automotive industry experience would be an asset Ability to work independently as well as a member of a team, while being self-motivated Excellent analytical, organizational, written and verbal communication skills Attention to detail Critical thinker with ability to problem solve Understanding of the Consumer Protection Actand related regulations is desirable. Ability to interpret legislation would be an asset Understanding of the Alberta Corporate Registry Understanding of the Alberta Personal Property Registry system Computer literacy with extensive knowledge in Microsoft office and online search programs Understanding the Access to Information Act (AITA) and Protection of Privacy Act (POPA)guidelines as it relates to a public service agency Demonstrated ability to handle highly confidential issues Excellent interpersonal skills Successful completion of a criminal record check may be required.
