Executive Director/Program and Community Wellness Coordinator
Hours of Work:
14-21 hours per week, flexibility required.
Summary of Responsibilities
The Community Wellness Facilitator works alongside the Program & Community Wellness Coordinator to support the delivery of social, wellness, and recreational programs for older adults--including initiatives like social prescribing and fundraisers such as Smack the Jack. This hands-on role involves setting up for activities, encouraging participant engagement, assisting with meal programs, and helping promote events through social media. The Facilitator helps create a warm, inclusive environment while collaborating with staff, volunteers, and community partners to ensure programs run smoothly and effectively.
Program Support & Delivery
Assist with the setup, delivery, and evaluation of wellness, recreational, and social programs.
Acquire necessary resources to support program initiatives.
Encourage participation and create a positive, engaging atmosphere for older adults.
Contribute to the development of programming goals that enhance community engagement.
Promote programs within the community to maximize participation.
Help identify participant needs and connect individuals to appropriate programs and services through social prescribing.
Volunteer & Community Engagement
Recruit and coordinate volunteers for fundraising efforts, programs, and special events.
Assign and coordinate responsibilities among volunteers to optimize their contributions.
Support volunteer-led activities and assist volunteers with tasks during programs and events.
Provide friendly assistance to event attendees and program participants.
Help maintain program and event spaces in an organized, welcoming manner.
Event Coordination
Coordinate internal and external events to foster community relationships and awareness.
Organize on-site activities, events, and workshops to engage participants.
Represent the organization at events and workshops, actively participating in community engagement.
Conduct community presentations (5-8 per year) to promote the Centre's offerings.
Coordinate volunteers to set up displays and provide information to potential clients.
Communication and Outreach
Assist with promoting programs through posters, newsletters, social media, and word-of-mouth
Take photos at events and contribute to social media content and scheduling
Share community resources and support referrals in collaboration with the coordinator
Administrative & Operational Support
Maintain a clean, organized office environment by performing light housekeeping duties.
Assist with setup and teardown of furniture for meals, activities, and events.
Assist with snow removal and garden maintenance as needed.
Provide information, referrals, and support to older adults in the community in accordance with Board policy.
Stay informed about trends and issues affecting seniors to enhance program relevance.
Support the meal program by assisting with meal preparation, service, and coordination to ensure a positive dining experience for participants.
Stay up to date with technology trends and develop troubleshooting skills to effectively address any technical issues that may arise.
Carry out additional tasks as mutually agreed upon with the Executive Director.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Relevant qualifications with a minimum of Grade 12; a university or college diploma is preferred.
Demonstrated experience working with older adults and effectively coordinating volunteers.
Strong proficiency in computer systems, software applications, and project management platforms.
Solid understanding of social media platforms, along with basic IT and technology skills.
Proven experience in program and activity coordination.
Exceptional management abilities with a track record of meeting deadlines and efficiently handling multiple tasks.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of engaging and collaborating with diverse groups.
Reliable, team-oriented, and organized with a willingness to learn
A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle are required.
