Taber Special Needs Society has been in existence since 1987. The Society provides support to adults with developmental disabilities. The Society advocates and supports an inclusive environment both for the individuals and the staff that support them. There will be on the job training and job shadowing.
Rotation details: This position is 2 weekends on, one weekend off. Hours are 7-4pm Saturday and Sunday.
Overview: Assisting two women to showcase their skills and abilities in their home and in the community on weekends and evenings. These women have a wide variety of interests and enjoy interacting with others. Some personal care is involved as well as but not limited to; meal planning and cooking, and general housekeeping.
Responsibilities: Assist with making and maintaining connections in the community, assisting with all aspects of residential living including personal care, assisting to achieve goals set by the individuals and following their Person-Centered Plan, help promote independence and healthy living.
QUALIFICATIONS: Provide and maintain an atmosphere conducive to developing self-esteem and self-confidence. To be responsible for maintaining confidentiality. To provide transportation when required. Maintaining ongoing records regarding progress and achievement and completing all required documentation in a timely manner. To dispense medication as per Taber Special Needs Society's policies.
Qualifications: You must be physically be able to lift up to 25 pounds, stand for periods of time, bend while doing a task and walk up to 5 blocks.
The following qualities would be an asset: Be able to work as team and independently, problem solving everyday issues as they arise, be able to use complete needed paperwork using a computer, be adaptable to change as it occurs in day-to-day activities, and enjoy interacting with a variety of people, enjoy going out into the community. Proficient in verbal and written English. Basic understanding and use of computer skills. As well as: be 18 years of age or older. possess a valid class 5 driver's license and a reliable vehicle with proof of $2 million liability insurance. possess a clean criminal record check with the vulnerable persons sector check.
Experience in the disability sector or health sector is an asset, but not necessary as we provide all training.
