As a Child and Youth Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing direct care and support to children with complex needs. You will work in a therapeutic environment that focuses on building trust, promoting skill development, and managing behaviours with compassion and consistency.

Key Responsibilities:



Provide consistent supervision and support to children, ensuring their safety and well-being. Assist with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and recreational activities. Implement individualized care plans and behavioural strategies. Utilize positive behaviour support techniques to de-escalate challenging situations. Model and encourage appropriate social interactions and coping skills. Document and report all incidents, observations, and interventions accurately. Facilitate skill-building activities to promote independence and personal growth. Encourage participation in recreational, educational, and therapeutic programs. Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams (social workers, therapists, and educators). Maintain open and professional communication with colleagues, supervisors, and external partners.

Candidates must have the following:



Diploma or degree in Child and Youth Care, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field

Minimum of 1-2 years' experience working with children or youth with developmental, behavioural, or mental health challenges

Current Standard First Aid and CPR Level C certification

Clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.

Valid class 5 driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.

Empathy, patience, and resilience in working with children facing complex challenges.

Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.

Ability to remain calm under pressure and effectively manage crisis situations.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Proficiency in documentation and record-keeping.

Computer proficiency is essential, as all documentation and reporting are completed electronically.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: From $19.00 per hour
