What We Are Looking For

:

SVCS is currently looking for Community Support Workers to join our team immediately. The position will start as casual, however, has the potential to grow into a regular part-time or full-time position in the future. The casual or on-call hours may include evenings and weekends when necessary. Successful candidates will be motivated and use their creativity, planning, networking and communication skills to assist those we support in achieving meaningful inclusion in their community. Despite the challenges and expectations of this position, the work we do is often rewarding and fulfilling beyond measure.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications:



Minimum one-year previous experience working with people with various disabilities

Post-secondary education (either certificates, diploma or degree)

Must have current First-Aid, clean criminal record check, Class 5 drivers license, clean drivers abstract, and personal vehicle to be used for work purposes (mileage paid for)

Strong ability with computers including email, documentation systems, various internet applications and Microsoft Office Suite

Understand the importance of empowering people to support themselves to be healthy, happy and safe

Perceptiveness and ability to resolve conflict in a diplomatic and reasonable manner

Demonstrate initiative, be resourceful and creative

Work independently, collaboratively within the team and with the organization

What We Are Offering:



SVCS supports our Community Support Workers to continue improving their professional knowledge and stay up to date on best practices in the field. The Community Support Worker reports to a Quality Services Manager who provides support and direction as needed. Our primary hours of operation are from 8:30am-3pm Monday through Friday, however, being 0n-call for evenings and weekends may be required as necessary. Hourly rates start at $25.95/hour and a comprehensive benefits package, including pension plan is available upon meeting eligibility requirements. This is a bargaining unit position, governed by the terms of our collective agreement.
