Position Community Support Worker (CSW) - Regular Part Time One (1) Position Available

Hours 22.3 \xe2\x80\x93 30 hours per week (4 days on, 4 days off rotation)

Nature of Position

The CSW is responsible to empower and support persons with disabilities to engage in life skills, daily activities and social engagements, employment searching, assist with housing searches at the participant\'s choosing. The CSW is to assist each individual as a valued, contributing citizen of inclusive communities

The CSW assists participants to live successfully in community settings. The CSW ensures that individual participant\'s physical, emotional, social, educational, and medical needs are met. The CSW supports individuals to enhance quality of life with activities of daily living and the development of life skills and employment according to their choice.

Qualifications, Education and Knowledge

\xc2\xb7 Certificate in a related human/social service field OR One (1) year recent related experience, working with people with developmental disabilities.

\xc2\xb7 Previous experience working with people with dual diagnosis and challenging and/or aggressive behaviours an asset.

\xc2\xb7 Essential to display a proven ability to work with challenging and aggressive behaviours calmly and effectively.

\xc2\xb7 Experienced with various lifts, feeding protocols, toileting protocols, personal care protocols, basic adaptive sign language is an asset.

\xc2\xb7 Need to display an understanding and ability to work with individuals with mental disability and mental illness.

\xc2\xb7 Must display enthusiasm and energy and be a contributing team member.

\xc2\xb7 Preference will be given to applicants with Augmentative Communication systems and programs training.

Requirements

\xc2\xb7 Vaccine Passport with a minimum of two vaccinations

\xc2\xb7 Class 4 Driver\xe2\x80\x99s License (able to obtain within 6 months)

\xc2\xb7 Current First Aid and CPR

\xc2\xb7 Current (every 3 years) TB test results

\xc2\xb7 Clear, current Criminal Record Check (provided by OneSky)

\xc2\xb7 A completed Physicians Approval of Health

\xc2\xb7 Food Safe Certification

\xc2\xb7 Mandt Training (provided by OneSky) \xe2\x80\x93 NVCI also acceptable

\xc2\xb7 Applicant must be willing to swim with the participant in the pool on a regular basis.

\xc2\xb7 Use of own safe, reliable vehicle to transport participants with \xe2\x80\x9cbusiness class\xe2\x80\x9d insurance
