Community Standards Peace Officer
The Community Standards Peace Officers are responsible to carry out daily duties through its various teams, which provide investigation and enforcement services to the general public, industry other City Departments, and pride themselves on service excellence. Teams include, Vehicle for Hire Unit, Commercial Vehicle Unit, General Duties, Downtown and the Community Safety Teams. All of these teams contribute to making Edmonton safer for all.
Community Safety Teams: These peace officers are at the heart of the Healthy Streets Operation Centre and work closely with the Edmonton Police Service, Edmonton Fire Rescue Services, Community Safety Liaisons and the communities they serve. These peace officers are expected to provide high visibility and high engagement patrols focused on problem-oriented policing practices in a larger and more integrated team environment in order to find solutions to issues experienced within the communities they serve.
Downtown Peace Officers: These peace officers provide proactive and reactive services to the Civic Centre which includes Churchill Square and other City assets. They support and respond to issues within the core of Edmonton\xe2\x80\x99s downtown entertainment district while ensuring the safety and security of persons and City infrastructure.
General Duties: Otherwise known as the catch all group due to their large scope of responsibilities. These peace officers are responsible for the enforcement and education of a wide variety of bylaw and provincial statutes. Their day-to-day duties include select traffic enforcement responsibilities with a mix of both private and public property complaint types which improve Edmonton\xe2\x80\x99s livability and vibrancy.
Commercial Vehicle Unit: By way of robust inspections, this highly trained team is dedicated to the enforcement and education of the commercial transport industry. The team helps protect city infrastructure, highway users and the general public by upholding legislative standards found within bylaws, provincial statutes and federal regulations as they apply to the industry. This team works closely with a multitude of regional partners which includes the Edmonton Police Service, Sheriff Highway Patrol and other local enforcement agencies.
Vehicle for Hire: This team is entrusted to educate and enforce a variety of regulations as it relates to the operations of vehicles for hire within the City of Edmonton. This proactive team ensures that vehicles for hire working within the City are adequately licensed and mechanically sound while also ensuring that drivers adhere to the rules of the road. The team works with and for the industry to ensure that current standards and regulations are met.
Animal Control Peace Officer
Promote responsible pet ownership and cultivate safe, healthy, and harmonious communities by becoming an Animal Control Peace Officer. This role provides an opportunity to enhance your communication and problem-solving skills while working towards a rewarding career in enforcement. Your effectiveness will be gauged by your ability to achieve prompt results within a framework of respect, inclusivity, and a service-oriented approach.

Park Ranger Peace Officer
Work in North America\'s largest urban parkland reserve, known as the "Ribbon of Green". As a Park Ranger Peace Officer, you\'ll contribute to ensuring a safe and enjoyable co-existence between the valley\'s plants, wildlife and ten million annual visitors in Edmonton\'s 48 kilometers of river valley. Park Ranger Peace Officers promote conservation, safe and responsible outdoor recreation in our parks system and parks and trail safety.
You\xe2\x80\x99ll find our Park Ranger Peace Officers on the North Saskatchewan River for Marine unit patrols, responding to homeless encampments to assist some of our most vulnerable Edmonton\'s, riding trails on mountain bikes and ATV equipment and hosting workshops & presentations with school children on safe wildlife interactions while enjoying outdoor park spaces safely and responsibly.
