Summary
Didsbury is a town of 5,268 residents, located 80 kilometres north of Calgary. We sit approximately halfway between Calgary and Red Deer and an hour's drive to the Rockies. Didsbury offers small community living with big city amenities just a short drive away.
Didsbury is a family-focused community with three schools, a hospital, public library, and robust recreational facilities, including a newly renovated 2-surface arena, 5-lane swimming pool, 4-sheet curling rink, ball diamonds, Skate Park, golf course and numerous playgrounds and pathways. Hours: 27 hours weekly. Must be able to work daytime, evenings and weekends

Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Fire Chief, the Community Peace Officer (CPO) Level 1 ensures compliance with Municipal Bylaws, select Provincial Statutes (as per their CPO Appointment), and provides a positive presence in the community through community engagement and proactive public education.

Requirements
REQUIRED:

• Minimum of one year related experience or post-secondary education such as law enforcement or equivalent
• Appointment of, or ability to obtain, Community Peace Officer Level 1 through Alberta Public Safety and Emergency Services
• Pressure Point Control Tactics (PPCT) Training as certified by the Alberta Peace Officer program
• Valid PARE or other approved testing requirement
• Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC)
• RADAR/LIDAR
• Valid Class 5 Alberta driver's license, with a clean Driver's abstract
• Ability to handle potential conflict situations, deal with stressful situations and react with good judgment, diplomacy and tact
• Functional computer skills

DESIRED:

• Animal Handling Training, and experience with animal control
• Dangerous Goods Inspector
• Commercial vehicle weights and dimension training
• Valid Oleoresin Capsicum Aerosol (OC Spray) and Expandable Baton Certification
• Familiarization with JOIN, ROAD, CPIC, GIS, APIS, and MRF
• Intermediate First Aid and Level C CPR
• ICS 100
• Experience in a Municipal setting
