POSITION SUMMARY:




Working within the philosophy of TAMIR, the Community Participation Supervisor. The Community Participation Supervisor leads Tamir's community engagement and day service initiatives to promote inclusion, skill-building, and meaningful participation for individuals we support. In this leadership role, you will champion a person-centered approach, foster community partnerships, and empower participants to achieve vocational, employment, and personal development goals


Under the general supervision of the Executive Director this position is responsible to carry out day service program operations in a manner consistent with Tamir's vision, mission and values.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:






1.

Participant Support and Advocacy.




Build and maintain positive, respectful relationships with participants, families, residential services, and community stakeholders.

Lead the design and delivery of community engagement strategies based on individual interests, strengths, and aspirations.

Identify and secure volunteer, vocational, and employment opportunities in collaboration with public and private partners.

Advocate for participant rights, health, and well-being, including oversight of medication and treatment protocols.

Develop individualized service plans with measurable goals, track progress, and conduct semi-annual and annual reviews.

Create a safe, fun, and inclusive day program environment promoting cultural, recreational, and personal growth opportunities.

Proactively address barriers to success through creative problem-solving and collaboration with participants and their advocates.

Evaluate, Monitor and Track the goals created in the individualized meetings on a quarterly basis with meetings semi annually and annually with stakeholders.

Support the staff in the implementation of individualized and group activities Develop partnerships with public/private community stakeholders to include participants across the agency in inclusive community programs

Expand the employment opportunities for young adults with developmental disabilities - job skills training program in the community

Enhance and promote family engagement through events, activities, and active involvement/participation.

Ensure programs and services align with participants needs and well being Implement and monitor training programs designed to enhance independence and life skills for participants

Tracks Key Performance indictors assigned to the community and employment programs with outcomes

Collaborate with youth program to transition young adults into adults services in a planful way

Identifies issue/concerns for supports to better promote achievement of participant goals with problem solving capacity

Elicit input from participants and their advocates surrounding planning and evaluation processes

Maintains communication with families, external staff, and others of importance to the participants

Ensures participants have opportunities to participate in their faith and cultural activities Ensures staff are appropriately and efficiently managing participant funds and using their passport funding effectively

Leads the development and maintenance of community partnerships in areas such as work and volunteer placements, academic skill building and recreation options

Informs the Executive Director of any risks to participant health, safety and/or wellbeing, as well as any systemic barriers to achievement of outcomes for individuals



2. Leadership and Staff Development






Recruit, train, supervise, and mentor day program staff, ensuring high standards of care and professional growth.

Promote a positive, values-driven team culture rooted in respect, accountability, and excellence.

Support staff in delivering individualized and group-based activities aligned with participants' goals

Ensure the staff have the professional development and training required for individuals to succeed in the community as community members

Participates in professional development, conferences and trainings to promote continuous improvement and best practices



3. Administration and Finance






Ensures implementation and enforcement of Tamir policies and procedures, as well as Ministry of Community and Social Services operational guidelines, relevant legislation and the Collective Agreement

Ensures all community and employment programs comply with Tami's Judaic policy and procedures through observance of Shabbat, Kashrut and other aspects of Jewish life

Operates under the guidelines of Tamir Health and Safety policies and procedures and follows safe practices

Conducts monthly health and safety inspections of their assigned program sites, in conjunctions with the program H&S representative

Leads investigations regarding employee injuries and near misses and reports findings to the appropriate senior management staff - Responds to all Damage/Loss/Hazard reports received and regarding their assigned programs and follows established processes to ensure they are addressed

Ensures that appropriate documentation of program operations is maintained, according to established Tamir policies and procedures Manages program funds and ensure expenditures are within budget

Maintains complete information for each participant and respects confidentiality

Attends management and supervisory meetings as per schedule

Participates on agency committees as assigned

Performs administrativeand other tasks as assigned by the Executive Director


4.

WORKING CONDITIONS:






Staff may be required to perform any or all of the following duties in the course of their work:




1. Supervisors are responsible to be on call as per rotation schedule


2. Working with people emotional, psychological and physical behavioral challenges


3. A risk of exposure to communicable/contagious diseases


4. Lifting, move or transferring people who require mobility assistance


5. May be required to work alone and independently


6. Must be able to operate a vehicle




QUALIFICATIONS




Education and Experience




DSW and 4 year of experience working with persons with developmental disabilities, including 2 years of supervisory experience in developmental services is preferred Degree in Social Services, Psychology, Sociology or related field, and

5 years

of progressive experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, including at least

2 years

in a

supervisory or leadership

role within developmental services or community engagement settings High school education and 8 years of relevant experience working with persons with developmental disabilities, including 3 years of Supervisory experience in developmental services, is preferred Experience in the development and implementation of community/employment programs

Passion for community inclusion and empowering people with developmental disabilities. Strong leadership, team-building, and coaching abilities. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written). Solid skills in conflict resolution, crisis management, and problem-solving. Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with ability to manage multiple priorities. Flexible, proactive, and committed to person-centered planning. Knowledge of Jewish culture and traditions (or willingness to learn and support observance practices) is an asset.





Certifications




Valid Drivers License with good driving record Current CPR and First Aid Training * Basic word processing skills (MS Word preferred)
