To reach out to individuals 55+ in the Elmwood/ East Kildonan areas to address social isolation and/or resource awareness, with the goal of positively impacting quality of life.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Outreach:
Develop and maintain positive relationships with older adults.
Conduct assessments with older adults to determine needs, risks, and requirements.
Provide information and/or refer older adults to appropriate resources.
Encourage and support older adult's efforts to become involved at GNALC, or other community organizations.
Develop relationships and partner with team members and community organizations.
Track completion of all referrals.
Program Development:
With the Outreach Advisory Committee, develop and implement programs that encourage involvement and active living for older adults
Identify the requirements of programs to ensure that the Outreach Program has the resources to fulfill these requirements.
Partner with the social committees in seniors housing blocks to identify and implement on-site programs.
Regularly evaluate programs to ensure they are effective and meet the needs of participants.
Marketing:
Promote the Outreach Program and Outreach Program initiatives in the community through public service announcements, posters, flyers, brochures, etc.
Ensure community organizations and referral sources are informed about the Outreach Program.
Administration:
Maintain statistics relevant to the Outreach Program.
Submit monthly activity reports to the Executive Director.
Provide input for the annual United Way of Winnipeg Outreach Program budget.
Monitor budget and be accountable for program expenses
Research and assist in preparing grant proposals to support the Outreach Program.
Assist in yearly reporting to the funder (United Way of Winnipeg).
Other:
Develop and maintain expertise related to outreach, program development and community resources for older adults.
Provide direction and support to volunteers and students within the Outreach Program.
Attend staff meetings and chair/take minutes as assigned.
Carry out from time-to-time other tasks as assigned by the Executive Director.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Degree in Social Sciences, Certificate in Community Development or five years equivalent experience.
MUST

Strong interpersonal skills.
Proven ability to assess individuals' needs, risks and requirements.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and effectively in a participatory team approach.
Experience working with older adults.
Computer experience - Word, Excel and Power Point
Job Types: Part-time, Fixed term contract
