leaders with accurate information to eradicate stereotypes and discrimination.
Position Overview
The Community Organizer/Outreach Coordinator will play a critical role in strengthening
MACC's connections with local communities, stakeholders, and partners. This individual will
be responsible for building relationships, mobilizing community members, and driving
outreach initiatives that align with MACC's mission. The role focuses on empowering
individuals, amplifying marginalized voices, and fostering collaboration between
communities, organizations, and institutions.
Key Responsibilities
Community Engagem
ent:
Build and maintain relationships with community groups, leaders, and organizations.
Identify and engage with marginalized and underserved Muslim communities to address
local needs and amplify their voices.
Outreach Initiatives:
-Develop and execute outreach strategies to raise awareness of MACC's programs,
initiatives, and resources.
Organize and facilitate workshops, forums, and events to promote community dialogue and
collaboration.
Represent MACC at community events, conferences, and stakeholder meetings.
Advocacy and Mobilization:
Mobilize community members to participate in advocacy campaigns and initiatives.
Collaborate with MACC's team to develop and implement campaigns addressing key issues
such as Islamophobia, equity in healthcare, and education.
Program Support:
Assist in designing and implementing community-centered programs and projects, ensuring
they reflect the needs and priorities of local communities.
Provide feedback from community members to inform MACC's program development and
advocacy efforts.
Communications and Reporting:
-Prepare outreach materials, including flyers, newsletters, and social media content, in
collaboration with MACC's communications team.
Maintain accurate records of outreach activities and prepare reports on community
engagement efforts and outcomes.
Qualifications
-Experience in community organizing, outreach, or advocacy work (experience with Muslim
communities is an asset).
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and sustain
relationships with diverse groups.
Demonstrated ability to organize and execute community events and initiatives.
Understanding of systemic inequities, Islamophobia, and issues impacting marginalized
communities in Canada.
Strong organizational and project management skills, with attention to detail.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and social media platforms; experience with CRM tools is an
asset.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Fluency in English (additional languages spoken within Muslim communities are an asset).
