Job Description

George Gordon First Nation (GGFN) has a 20+ year Comprehensive Community Based Plan that needs review and updates. The planning is designed to be inclusive, culture specific, community specific, and long term. The comprehensive and holistic planning is not linear and will go through many phases. Plans are community-driven and covers all aspects of the community such as, land and resources, infrastructure development, culture and language, health, education, economy, governance and administration, social, etc.

Duties and Responsibilities:



GGFN is seeking an enthusiastic individual who will be responsible for overseeing the development of the Comprehensive Community Based Plan. This position requires a broad skillset and the ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all departments, community groups (e.g. Elders, youth, members living in and outside the community), and partners, as the Nation enhances and implements the plan. The ideal candidate would also bring a genuine interest in learning more about community planning and a passion for improving the quality of life for all members.

To learn about community planning and the tasks associated with the plan. Investigate and research relevant background information. Work alongside partners as well as other Community Navigators throughout the duration of the planning process. Lead various meetings within the community to introduce and review the Comprehensive Community Based Plan. Maintain positive working relationships with internal and external personnel, organizations, and agencies. Work with other departments to address the priorities that are identified in the community plan. Work with other departments to address the priorities that are identified in the community plan. Prepare basic information concerning the community planning process and act as a resource person for GGFN members, departments, and Chief and Council on the community plan process, procedures, and protocols. Coordinate local data collection and transfer from other sources. Develop memos, progress reports, briefing notes, and planning documents. Coordinate review of draft reporting documents and presentation materials. Prepare, write, and submit compelling grant proposals to secure support, ensuring compliance with funder guidelines and deadlines.

Skills and Qualifications:



Degree in Business Administration and/or equivalent education and experience may be considered. Five (5) years of direct work experience in a management role, with proven community evolution is preferred. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team player to effectively interact with other GGFN members, departments, Chief and Council, service providers, and local government agencies and officials. Strong oral and written communication skills. Proposal writing experience and ability to conduct research. Exceptional organization and time-management skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects. Highly motivated and ability to work in fast paced work environment. Understanding George Gordon First Nation cultural beliefs and customs. Strong computer skills, including ability to efficiently utilize Microsoft Office. Possess a valid Saskatchewan class five (5) driver's license. Applicants must provide a criminal record and vulnerable sector checks.
Salary will be based on experience, training, and education. This one (1)-year full time temporary position with possibility of extension that reports directly to the Director of Operations.
