Position Summary:
The CMW Community Mental Health Worker (CMHW) will work in close partnership with the CMW Coordinator to provide mental health services to participants in both phases of the CMW initiative: the HUB Situation Table and Enhanced Supports.
As a partner within the CMW interdisciplinary team, the successful candidate will provide a broad range of mental health services to participants and their families and will act as the primary counsellor while connecting them to the broader Mental Health care system.
The CMHW requires a diverse and comprehensive knowledge base about trauma informed psychiatric care and other mental health therapies, including crisis management and suicide intervention skills. In collaboration and partnership with other health care providers, participants' families, and community collaterals, the CMHW will focus on supporting individuals and families in their personal recovery and wellness for up to one year.
The CMHW will also focus on functional assessments and skill development, relapse prevention, and healing. As a valued member of the CMW team, the CMHW will demonstrate effective problem-solving and organizational abilities.
The CMHW will have a deep understanding of the ongoing impacts of colonization including over-representation, under-representation, system barriers, and the ongoing impacts of intergenerational trauma. As either an Indigenous person or as an ally, the CMHW will work with CMW in the true spirit and intent of reconciliation.
CMW covers a large geographical area within Westman, travel outside of Brandon may be required.
The position will be a maximum of 35 hours per week. Pension and benefits included. Hybrid working from home arrangements may be negotiated.
