Job Posting: Community Mental Health Therapist (Independent Contractor)
Community Mental Health is a therapeutic approach that prioritizes accessibility, cultural responsiveness, and holistic support for individuals within their communities. It focuses on delivering comprehensive mental health care that addresses emotional, psychological, and social challenges through prevention, early intervention, and ongoing support for individuals and families.
Community Mental Health therapists recognize that mental well-being is deeply interconnected with a person's environment, culture, relationships, and lived experiences. This approach seeks to remove barriers to care by providing services in community-based settings rather than institutional environments, ensuring that mental health support is inclusive, adaptable, and responsive to the diverse needs of those it serves.
The Community Mental Health Therapist will provide therapeutic support and intervention to children, youth, and families facing emotional, psychological, and social challenges. This role emphasizes accessibility, cultural responsiveness, and trauma-informed care within a community-based and in office therapeutic setting.

Provide individual, family, and group therapy to children and youth experiencing trauma, addictions, identity struggles, and emotional/behavioral challenges.
Apply a trauma-informed and culturally responsive approach in all therapeutic interventions.
Support clients using a strengths-based, holistic framework that integrates mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being.
Maintain confidential and up-to-date documentation in accordance with professional and ethical standards.
Collaborate with community organizations, schools, and other service providers to ensure wraparound support for clients.
Conduct crisis intervention and risk assessments as needed, ensuring safety and appropriate referrals.
Participate in monthly clinical supervision and mentorship, provided at no cost.
Follow ethical guidelines outlined by the Manitoba College of Social Workers (MCSW) and adhere to FIPPA and PHIA regulations regarding privacy and confidentiality.
Develop and facilitate mental health workshops, support groups, and skill-building sessions in community settings.
Provide advocacy and system navigation to help clients access community resources, education, and housing support.
Work flexibly and independently while maintaining a collaborative approach within a team.
Stay informed on best practices, therapeutic modalities, and emerging mental health trends to enhance service delivery.
