Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centred clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Position Overview

The Shared Health Mental Health and Addictions program provides a range of mental health and addiction services across the healthcare continuum that support and promote recovery. Through collaboration and partnership across various health, social service and community sectors, the program strives to promote mental health and well-being for all, to reduce inequities and the impact of mental health and addiction problems, and to work towards sustainability of mentally healthy individuals and communities.

The Clinical Coordinator will provide support to the Forensic Mental Health Service, which provides a number of services to accused persons. These services include Court Ordered Assessments as per the Criminal Code of Canada, assessments to the Criminal Code Review Board for people found by the courts to be Unfit to Stand Trial or Not Criminally Responsible (per section 672.1 of the Criminal Code), assessment and treatment for those under the CCRB, and close support to the Forensics Inpatient Unit, located at PX-3 in PsycHealth at Health Sciences Centre. This program focusses on assessments of accused persons regarding their Fitness to Stand Trial and/or their Criminal Responsibility. Additionally, for service users under the Review Board, goals include restoration, maintenance or enhancement of their health functioning. The Clinical Coordinator will be a resource to the Forensic Mental Health Service and the Legal system and Courts. Frequent communication will occur with the Forensic Medical Lead, the PX-3 Manager of Patient Care and outpatient office, and the Team Lead for tasks associated with optimizing Court Ordered assessment processes and service user flow through the system.

Experience

  • Minimum of four years directly related community mental health experience.
  • Preference given to those with experience within the Forensic Mental Health System.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • BSW, BSc.MH, BSc.PN, BN, OT, or other related health and human service degree required.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
  • Licensure/Registration as per professional designation required.
  • Requires a valid driver\'s license and a vehicle.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding the bio/psycho/social model of mental illness and recovery.
  • Working knowledge of the forensic and criminal justice systems.
  • Demonstrated excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills as this role will work across all levels of the healthcare and criminal justice system.
  • Effective networking and agency relations skills.
  • Ability to use problem resolution skills to handle sensitive and complex issues related to multiple service involvement.
  • Familiarity with word processing and database systems is an asset.
