Position SummaryReporting to the Manager, Career Services - Immigrant Professionals, this position will be responsible for promoting services for internationally educated immigrant professionals. The Community Liaison Officer is a member of the team responsible for delivering services for the Directions for Immigrants contract with an objective of helping immigrant professionals obtain their career goals.This position will manage promotional and outreach activities for the purpose of educating and informing newcomers and community about the career services offered by Directions for Immigrants. Understanding and ensuring the deliverables and milestones of the contract are key to success in this role.The Community Liaison Officer:

  • Creates, coordinates and executes promotional activities and events to a wide variety of stakeholders in the service area.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with immigrant serving agencies, immigrant communities, career service providers, ethnocultural groups, licensing bodies and post-secondary institutions.
Presents and represents the services to newcomers in the service area.Position responsibilities and accountabilities include but are not limited to:Promotes the services of Directions for Immigrants
  • In collaboration with Marketing and Recruitment acts as the subject matter expert in developing promotional materials including brochures and print/digital advertising.
  • Creates posters, announcements, emails and presentations for a variety of audiences including internationally educated professionals, licensing bodies, post- secondary institutions, language providers, career service providers and immigrant serving agencies.
  • Coordinates and executes promotional activities and events.
  • Creates specialized promotional activities for specific study groups (pharmacy, nursing, engineering, medicine, law, plus any additional occupations as required).
  • Is the subject matter expert on for videos, newsletters and social media communication.
  • Collaborates with the team and implements the most effective engagement strategies for specific client populations.
  • Monitors the effectiveness of the strategies to ensure contract deliverables are met.
  • Collaborates with career coaches to organize specialized client services/workshops and events.
  • Attracts new clients to the service resource centre.
  • Liaises with agencies and service providers for client referrals to Directions for Immigrants through on-going communication and presentations.
  • Stewards relationships with immigrant serving agencies, career service providers, ethnocultural groups and community service providers.
  • Delivers presentations to immigrants in language programs, settlement services and career services.
  • Creates and manages client surveys.
  • Collects information for reports and proposals.
  • Attends community events to promote services.
Required qualifications:
  • Diploma (Marketing, Communications, or Public Relations preferred)
  • Minimum one year of related experience
  • Marketing and communications experience
  • Strong presentation and public speaking skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • An equivalent combination of directly related education and experience may be considered
