Our Community Law Program provides information, advice, referrals, and representation for issues such as welfare, employment, housing, consumer/debt, and senior advocacy. POSITION OVERVIEW




We are seeking a Community Law Advocate who is passionate about social justice and committed to advancing equity within our communities. In this full-time role, you will provide legal information, assistance, advocacy and representation to eligible clients, while fostering partnerships with community groups, transition houses, etc. Your work will help individuals living in poverty access their rights and navigate complex systems within their community.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES



Deliver legal advocacy, information, and representation for individuals experiencing poverty, with a focus on dignity and empowerment Conduct holistic client intake and assessment, identifying strengths and providing direct service or referrals as appropriate Prepare and complete all necessary documentation, including legal documents, applications, appeals, and research materials Participate in legal supervision and adhere to Law Foundation guidelines and directives. Maintain accurate client records using the CLIO database and ensure timely reporting to the Law Foundation (monthly, quarterly, and annual reports) Stay informed and compliant with relevant legislation, regulations, and program requirements. Provide training and support to community organizations and transition houses, promoting awareness and access to legal resources Completion of Community Law Advocate training courses provided by the Law Foundation Attendance at the Law Foundation's annual provincial training conference and other workshops as required

QUALIFICATIONS



Diploma in a related human or social services field Minimum two years of direct experience in program delivery as a Community/Poverty Law Advocate Completion of Law Foundation Community Law Advocacy training At least one year of experience using the Law Foundation CLIO Database Strong commitment to EDI principles, cultural humility, and trauma-informed practice Excellent communication and advocacy skills, with the ability to build trust and empower clients

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS



Satisfactory Criminal Record Check Clearance is required Current First Aid and CPR Certificate Valid and unrestricted Class 5 BC Driver's License with access to a safe and reliable vehicle Position requires Union Membership

Shift/Schedule/Hours per week:

Regular, Full-time; 35 hours per week.
