Community Inclusion Worker (full Time, 32.75 Hours)

Job Description

The Chris Rose Therapy Centre for Autism in Kamloops, British Columbia, is looking for two part time workers in the Community Inclusion Program who would be available for relief shifts as well. This program works with adults 19+ with autism spectrum disorder who are affiliated with CLBC. The young men and women we work with will have tailor-made programs geared toward their individuals goals. Our staff works with them toward achieving their goals, while keeping in mind their individual personal care plans and behaviour plans. The individuals in our adult program have been with our Centre for many years in our other programs, and are very important to us.

This position involves working one-on-one with individuals, with very limited group interactions. Activities will include swimming, crafts / cooking as applicable, time spent outdoors, time in sensory therapy, and more. Part of the responsibility of staff will be driving their person served to various activities.

The schedule for this position is as follows:

o Monday - 7:45 AM to 3:15 PM (7.5 hrs)


o Tuesday - 7:45 AM to 3:15 PM (7.5 hrs)


o Wednesday - 9:00 AM to 3:15 PM (6.25 hrs)


o Thursday - 9:00 AM to 3:15 PM (6.25 hrs)


o Friday - 10:00 AM to 3:15 PM (5.25 hrs)



This is not a desk job.

You will work directly with the individual. Depending on the person served, they have different personal care plans, and may experience different behaviour challenges. This can include needing assistance with toileting, and may also include being there for them if they are having a behaviour episode. The majority of the day is spent in the community with the the individual, not at a specific set location.

We are looking to hire primarily for relief positions, but there may be set part-time hours available as well.

Benefits and pay range:

The position starts at $24.83. The wage scale will be discussed in the interview. The wage will increase upon completion of the probationary period. Benefits are available to staff who regularly work 24 or more hours a week upon successful completion of the probation period. There are reimbursements for mileage and petty cash transactions. Exact details will be discussed in the interview.
Responsibilities and Duties:

To work in a one-to-one or group setting as needed with an autistic adult with an individual goal plan and take an active role in their activities while also providing transportation. To at all times preserve the confidentiality of the person in the program. To transport the person you are serving in your vehicle to their activities.
Requirements and Qualifications:

Preference will be given to individuals who have experience working with autism. Must be able to pass a Criminal Records Check (vulnerable sector). Valid First Aid (Emergency Community Care or equivalent) 19 years or older. Valid BC Driver's License and a reliable car to transport clients --
