Reporting to the Wet'suwet'en First Nation Health Director, General Manager, or designate,
the Community Health Representative (CHR) will collaborate with the Community Health
Nurse (CHN) and CHN Manager to establish community health priorities (health, prevention,
detection, assessment, and treatment). The role involves delivering health education
workshops and assisting CHNs with developing service networks across schools and clinical
specialists. The CHR ensures and promotes cross-cultural understanding between the
community, clients/patients, and health care professionals.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assisting with the planning and delivery of meetings and workshops aimed at preventing
health problems within the Wet'suwet'en First Nation.
Working with Wellness Teams and/or Community Enhancement Committee and members
of health care delivery teams to discuss issues affecting the health of the community.
Fostering cross-cultural understanding between clients/patients and health care
professionals about the Wet'suwet'en culture and places of origin.
Providing oral and written reports to the Chief, Council and Management
Presentations to Chief & Council and/or Community meetings.
Performing other related duties as directed by their immediate supervisor.
Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Grade 12 or higher health education background relevant to the position
Completion of a health-related education certificate, an asset
Demonstrates ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality
Experience with Word, Outlook, Excel, and working with video conferencing platforms
Zoom and Teams communication tools
Working knowledge of the FNHA Medical Transportation policy and guidelines
Ability to organize work plans to meet deadlines
Ability to be flexible to meet changing priorities
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Valid driver's License and own transportation
Be responsive to evening and weekend health-related crisis matters
WAGE RANGE: $22-26 per hour, pending experience
