Job Summary
The Community Health Registered Nurse I in Mental Health and Addictions provides mental health nursing services through assessment, referral, counselling and consultation. The nurse demonstrates an understanding of case management models, roles and functions within a community mental health setting. He/she provides mental health promotion activities including delivery of workshops and presentations, attendance at health fairs, and participation of community-based committees. This position will develop and implement therapeutic and self-help groups, prepare monthly reports and statistical information, and participate as a member of the interdisciplinary team, and may travel to outreach clinics as required.

May require constant sitting for meetings, documentation, or computer research.
Constantly uses fine finger/precision, auditory, sensory and visual concentration to provide and conduct assessments, observe/monitor clients, provide feedback to clients and other health care providers and complete documentation.
A high level of attentiveness and vigilance is required when working alone and during counselling sessions to ensure safety or detect impending danger/harm to self or client.
Job Qualifications
Graduation from an approved/recognized post-secondary nursing education program with a Baccalaureate degree in Nursing.
A minimum of three out of the last five years' experience in mental health nursing.
A current practicing license with the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (CRNNL) and BLS Certification is required.
Demonstrated ability to work both collaboratively and with a high degree of independence and initiative.
A valid Newfoundland and Labrador Class 5 Driver's License and the use of a private vehicle are conditions of employment.
A satisfactory record of work performance is required.
