Job Description

Under the general direction of the Community Resource Coordinator, the position is responsible for meeting with community groups/non-profit groups and receiving and evaluating proposals for funding. Other duties include writing recommendation reports, overseeing establishments of agreements with proponents, monitoring projects and recommending payments as outlined in legal agreements.

As the

Community Grant Program Assistant,

you will:



Monitor funding grant projects for progress and compliance, manage change requests, and process payments according to established schedules. Review and evaluate project proposals, prepare recommendations and administrative reports as necessary on reasons for proposals acceptance or rejection. Review conditions before Funding Agreements are prepared for execution. Review agreement terms with proponents, prepare reports and oversee establishment of Legal Agreements to provide funding. Establish and maintain relationship with clients/stakeholders (e.g. unions, employers, sponsors, etc...) to promote and deliver the programs and to leverage cooperative solutions. Coordinate Grant Funding announcements.

Your education and qualifications include:




Post-secondary diploma in a related discipline Community Development/Community Economic Development, Business Administration, or an equivalent combination of training in applied social sciences or community development and experience.

Experience in community development program administration, monitoring and evaluation.

Demonstrated ability to summarize reports and proposals.

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Experience interacting with the public and with non-profit organizations to provide information and assistance related to project delivery.

Knowledge of funding agreements and various types of contracts (Community Incentive Grant Programs, Community Centre Renovation Fund)

Ability to review financial information and monitor expenditures.

Ability to problem-solve, manage sensitive conversations and communicate verbally in an effective and courteous manner.

Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate records.

Ability to participate in community working groups and make presentations.

Ability to work with minimum supervision.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the public.

Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and associated software at an Intermediate level including Word, Excel, Outlook, and learn and work with various other software programs.

Must have, or be able to acquire in a reasonable period of time, a thorough knowledge of the occupational hazards and the safety precautions and regulations that are applicable to the position's area of work.

Knowledge and/or experience in capital construction is considered an asset.

Project management courses considered an asset.
