As a key member of the Heeman's team, your role as the Community & Events Coordinator is essential in contributing to our overall success. You'll help plan and independently coordinate all aspects of events from onsite events at Heeman's to events in the community, and manage a number of guest-facing initiatives. In this role, you'll help us achieve our goals of providing exceptional service and ensuring a positive environment and "Happy Place" for all Daymakers and guests.

Responsibilities:



Being a 'Daymaker' and delivering exceptional online and in-person customer service. Plan and coordinated all aspects of events across Heeman's brands, including our Greenhouse, Berry Farm, and Heeman's Cellar. This includes ongoing events such as winter and spring workshops, Cider Gardens, Food Trucks on the Farm, Cellar Club events, Winter Wellness, cider tours and groups, and family events (PD days, March break, other holidays) as well as future events the Marketing team initiates to support business goals. Plan and execute a variety of offsite events such as cider tastings, trade/conference shows, offsite workshops, etc. Work closely with internal teams and external vendors to manage all event logistics. Develop event timelines and manage resources accordingly. Assist the Marketing Manager with the creation and implementation of promotional plans for events using various channels to attract participants and ensure attendance goals are met. Serve as the main point of contact for internal and external event-related inquiries and concerns. Cultivate and maintain relationships with community partners and vendors. Evaluate the success and effectiveness of all events and provide post-event reports with feedback and action plans for continuous improvement. Contribute to the creation and execution of external communication in relation to all Heeman's brands (not just events), including but not limited to social media platforms, promotions, and emails. Responsible for the execution of event communication for in-house Heeman's Daymakers Maintain guest-facing programs such as photography requests, Cellar Club, and assist with potential development of new programs. Work in compliance with all human resources, operational (SOP) and Food, Health & Safety policies and procedures.

Knowledge, Skills & Personal Attributes



Excellent customer service skills Open communication style Solid understanding of traditional and digital marketing media Strong project management skills and ability to meet strict deadlines Efficient time management to ensure progress across multiple projects at the same time. Proficient with MS Office Suite & Google Workspace Familiar with the Mailchimp platform Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (or similar editing software) an asset Proficient with brand/business profiles on social media platforms (Facebook and Instagram are mandatory; YouTube, LinkedIn, and TikTok are considered an asset) Working knowledge of WordPress backend is advantageous Experience working with WooCommerce is an asset Skilled with graphic design, photography and/or videography is valued Website maintenance and some knowledge of basic coding is a plus Plant and cider knowledge, or the willingness and ability to learn quickly

Education, Experience & Language



Post-secondary education in Marketing, Communications, or a related field 1-2 years of events management experience Prior retail, agriculture or greenhouse work experience is considered an asset Language: advanced English (written and oral) SmartServe for cider tastings (can be obtained upon onboarding)

Availability:



Availability to work before and after regular hours and during all hours of operation (which will include evenings and weekends when events are happening at the greenhouse) Availability to work up to 6 days per week during busy seasons Flexibility to accommodate scheduling changes Open availability for April, May, September and December Transportation plan; Heeman's is not located on a bus route

Flexibility:




While this role has regular hours, events don't always go as planned. The ideal candidate is proactive and comfortable checking their inbox for urgent event-related matters in the lead-up to an event. We strive to respect work-life balance, but appreciate a team player who can troubleshoot time-sensitive issues when needed.

No two days are the same at Heeman's and that keeps things interesting and exciting. As a seasonal farm business that's open year-round, we see some pretty busy times and experience down seasons too. The environment here in the greenhouse and outdoors means it can be sunny and hot or cold and snowy and you'll need to be capable of performing in this kind of environment. You'll spend some days working in the office and others on your feet for prolonged periods during the events and from setting up and taking down events (items that can weigh up to 50lbs).
