Position Overview
The Community Engagement Facilitator plays a key role in strengthening United Way's presence and relationships throughout the Portage la Prairie community and the Central Plains region. This individual represents United Way professionally and enthusiastically, promoting programs, events, and partnership opportunities. The role involves community outreach, event coordination, volunteer recruitment, sponsor engagement, and administrative support, all of which contribute to the overall mission of United Way.
Key Responsibilities
Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with community stakeholders, sponsors, partners, volunteers and community members.
Support donor stewardship initiatives and assist in annual campaign activities.
Plan, organize, and promote United Way special events in the Portage la Prairie region.
Engage with businesses, schools, post-secondary institutions, and community events to raise awareness, encourage participation, and secure sponsorships.
Provide general administrative support for United operations.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
Demonstrated experience in relationship building, administration, and social media is required.
Event planning and supervisory experience are considered strong assets.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, with confidence and past involvement in public speaking and community engagement.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to plan, prioritize, and meet deadlines effectively.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and comfortable with learning new software systems.
Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work both independently and collaboratively.
Work Conditions
Primarily office-based, with regular attendance at community events (both indoor and outdoor).
Flexibility required to attend events outside of standard office hours.
Ability to use computers and standard office equipment, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Frequent interaction with members of the public.
Periods of sitting, standing, and repetitive activity.
