Job Description

The position will give the successful candidate the opportunity to develop skills in the following areas: marketing, computer skills, organization, self-esteem, research, communication, plus knowledge of the business industry of the area and the province. The Coordinator will work closely with the Chamber's Executive Director and the Board of Directors. This position would be based in Gander and would assist the Gander and Area Chamber of Commerce in developing a strategic plan to support the Chamber and its membership.

Primary duties would include:

Assisting in developing a strategic plan to support the Chamber and its membership. Developing retention strategies and recruiting new members through networking opportunities, conferences and monthly training sessions. Developing strategic partnerships to support Chamber activities. Research opportunities for the Chamber to develop affiliate programs and enhance membership offerings. Research and implement ways for the Chamber to better support our business and not-for profit members. Develop a strategic communications strategy including social media, the Chamber's new website, newsletters, mail outs, etc.
Other duties include:

Communicate directly with a steering committee Provide regular updates and communications with Chamber Executive Director/Board of Directors Assist with the development of event plans, communications plans, branding packages, promotional packages and sponsorship packages Communicate directly with members Ensure all health and safety standards are adhered to during events
This position is being hired under the provincial Job Creation Partnerships (JCP) program and therefore all applicants must be EI eligible to apply.

Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 32 weeks
