With over 20,000 members, SSMU\'s role is to represent students and to offer services since 1908.The primary responsibility of the Community Engagement Commissioner is to assist the Vice-President (External Affairs) with community engagement and the community engagement committee.ResponsibilitiesTo serve as secretary of the SSMU Community Engagement Committee and perform all tasks associated with that position: calling meetings and notifying members of such meetings; preparing agendas to be distributed to members; keeping minutes for each meeting to be distributed to each member and submitted to the Vice-President (External Affairs)Performing all tasks relating to the administration of the Community Engagement Fund: advertising the availability of such funds (including maintaining and updating the CEC website and Facebook page); bringing applications to the Communication Engagement Committee for approval; ensuring the timely processing of checks to recipients; informing applicants of the status of their applications; maintaining records of allocation;Presenting reports of the Community Engagement Committee and related subcommittees to the SSMU Legislative Council;Working with student groups, offices at McGill University, and community organizations such as the CCMP (Milton-Parc Citizen\xe2\x80\x99s Committee) to identify potential collaborative relationships between community organizations and McGill students;Familiarizing members of the committee with community outreach projects while ensuring that each member is connected with a project;Launching community initiatives in tandem with the Community Affairs Commissioner to improve relations with the Milton-Parc community, local government officials and other relevant stakeholders, while working towards a more positive and sustainable lifestyle for students;Preparing an exit report which indicates lessons learned, important contacts, and any salient information for the incoming Community Engagement Commissioner.Description du posteLa principale responsabilit\xc3\xa9 du commissaire \xc3\xa0 l\'engagement communautaire est d\'aider la vice-pr\xc3\xa9sidence (Affaires externes) \xc3\xa0 s\'engager dans la collectivit\xc3\xa9 et le Comit\xc3\xa9 d\xe2\x80\x99engagement communautaire.Responsabilit\xc3\xa9s * Agir \xc3\xa0 titre de secr\xc3\xa9taire du comit\xc3\xa9 d\'engagement communautaire de l\'A\xc3\x89UM et effectuer toutes les t\xc3\xa2ches associ\xc3\xa9es \xc3\xa0 ce poste : convoquer des r\xc3\xa9unions et informer les membres de ces r\xc3\xa9unions; pr\xc3\xa9parer les ordres du jour qui seront distribu\xc3\xa9s aux membres; tenir des proc\xc3\xa8s-verbaux pour chaque r\xc3\xa9union qui seront distribu\xc3\xa9s \xc3\xa0 chaque membre et soumis \xc3\xa0 la vice-pr\xc3\xa9sidence (Affaires externes);

  • Effectuer toutes les t\xc3\xa2ches li\xc3\xa9es \xc3\xa0 l\'administration des fonds du comit\xc3\xa9 d\'engagement communautaire : annoncer la disponibilit\xc3\xa9 de ces fonds (y compris le maintien et la mise \xc3\xa0 jour du site Web et de la page Facebook de la CCE); pr\xc3\xa9senter les demandes au Comit\xc3\xa9 d\'engagement des communications pour approbation; assurer le traitement rapide des ch\xc3\xa8ques aux b\xc3\xa9n\xc3\xa9ficiaires; informer les demandeurs de l\'\xc3\xa9tat de leur demande; tenir un registre d\xe2\x80\x99attribution pour celles-ci;
  • Pr\xc3\xa9senter les rapports du Comit\xc3\xa9 d\'engagement communautaire et des sous-comit\xc3\xa9s connexes au Conseil l\xc3\xa9gislatif de l\'A\xc3\x89UM;
  • Travailler avec des groupes de la communaut\xc3\xa9 \xc3\xa9tudiante, des bureaux de l\'Universit\xc3\xa9 McGill et des organismes communautaires comme le CCMP Comit\xc3\xa9 Citoyen de Milton Parc pour identifier les relations de collaboration potentielle entre les organismes communautaires et la communaut\xc3\xa9 \xc3\xa9tudiantes de McGill;
  • Familiariser les membres du comit\xc3\xa9 avec les projets de sensibilisation communautaire tout en veillant \xc3\xa0 ce que chaque membre soit li\xc3\xa9 \xc3\xa0 un projet;
  • Lancer des initiatives communautaires en collaboration avec le commissaire aux affaires communautaires pour am\xc3\xa9liorer les relations avec la communaut\xc3\xa9 de Milton-Parc, les repr\xc3\xa9sentants du gouvernement local et d\'autres intervenants pertinents, tout en travaillant \xc3\xa0 un mode de vie plus positif et durable pour les \xc3\xa9l\xc3\xa8ves;
  • Pr\xc3\xa9parer un rapport de sortie qui indique les le\xc3\xa7ons apprises, les contacts importants et toute information importante pour le nouveau commissaire \xc3\xa0 l\'engagement communautaire.
QualificationsWorking ConditionsHigh pressure work environment from an operational, administrative, and political perspective.Independent work environment with emphasis on collaboration and regular communication.Equipment used: Computer, Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), Google environment (Gmail, Docs, Drive), direct action equipment (PA system, megaphone, portable furniture, tent).Qualifications RequiredExcellent oral and written communication skills;Ability to execute tasks in a timely manner;Ability to communicate complex information in an accessible format;Strong planning, interpersonal, and organizational skills;Knowledge of and experience working with advocacy-focused community organisations;Strong knowledge of or interest in political affairs at municipal and provincial levels;Event planning experience is an asset;Strong knowledge of or interest in local grassroots organizing is an asset;Strong research and report-writing experience is an asset;Oral and written professional working proficiency of French is an asset;Integrity, good planning skills, interpersonal skills, high degree of organization skills.Conditions de travail
