About Us
The Kimberley Nature Park Society (KNPS) is a non-profit society responsible for the stewardship of a large and ecologically significant nature park in southeast British Columbia. Our mandate includes conservation, education, and recreation, guided by a commitment to environmental integrity, community engagement, and the sustainable use of natural resources.
Position Overview
The Community Engagement and Fundraising Coordinator will play a key role in enhancing KNPS' public profile, strengthening stakeholder relationships, and increasing financial capacity to support the Nature Park's operational and strategic goals. This includes developing strategies for fundraising, sponsorship, and public communications, and ensuring alignment with the park's conservation and education objectives. The position reports to the Vice President and works closely with the Community Engagement Committee and Board of Directors.
Key ResponsibilitiesFundraising & Sponsorship Development
Collaborate with the Community Engagement Committee (CEC) to draft and present a Fundraising Events Strategy including:
Medium- and long-term vision
Rationale, goals, and objectives
Proposed fundraising activities and expected outcomes
Identification of potential sources of funding
Develop a Sponsorship Strategy, in collaboration with the CEC, to:
Define sponsor benefits and value propositions
Recommend solicitation approaches
Outline expected outcomes
Provide an anticipated timeline for sponsorship engagement
Analyze the anticipated benefits of the strategy for KNPS
Prepare a comprehensive Fundraising Concept Paper aligned with the KNPS' Strategic Plan.
Promotions & Communications
Create a Promotional Communications Schedule outlining:
Topics, channels, and timing (e.g., social media, blogs, newsletters, media ads, community events, website updates)
Budget estimates and resourcing
Draft a Communications Policy, including:
Internal Communication: Guidelines for effective communication between staff, Executive, and Board
External Communication: Protocols for liaising with stakeholders and promoting the KNPS' mission
Reporting & Deliverables?
Workplans for each deliverable using the society's template, identifying tasks, milestones, and deliverables (to be determined)
Monthly itemized timesheets with invoices
Monthly progress reports to the Board of Directors
Sponsorship one-pager (flat sheet) and solicitation strategy??
Required Qualifications?
Experience in fundraising, communications, or non-profit program coordination
Strong understanding of community engagement and stakeholder relations
Proven ability to develop and implement strategic plans for fundraising and outreach
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience managing and maintaining social media, newsletters, and other promotional tools
Strong organizational and time management abilities
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a volunteer board
Familiarity with conservation, outdoor recreation, or environmental education is an asset??
Assets (Preferred but Not Required)?
Familiarity with donor databases, grant writing, and sponsorship models
Graphic design, website design, or media creation skills
Knowledge of BC's environmental or non-profit sectors
Familiarity with Kimberley's community and stakeholders??
Working Conditions?
Flexible hours; occasional evening or weekend events may be required
Must be available for periodic on-site visits to the Nature Park
The role may be structured as a fixed-term contract, with potential for renewal or expansion based on funding and performance
