The Edmonton Federation of Community Leagues (EFCL) is a not-for-profit organization that supports the City's 163 Community Leagues. Our mission is to engage, develop, and connect Edmonton Community Leagues while building healthy neighbourhoods.
The EFCL is looking for a motivated individual to continue supporting our Leagues in decreasing operating costs and greenhouse gas emissions through our Green Leagues Energy Benchmarking Program. The individual will assist in the collection and analysis of League energy and facility data for the purposes of monitoring and reducing energy consumption and costs at Community League facilities. The role requires experience in data analysis, spreadsheet software, and strong communication and writing skills for creating reports. Knowledge of renewable energy technology and environmental science is considered an asset.
This posting will be used to fill a Canada Summer Jobs Grant position and will be up to 16 weeks in duration, for up to 37.5 hours per week, in May, June, July and/or August. Weekend and evening work may at times be required.
Please note that, as a project funded by the Canada Summer Jobs Program youth must meet the following eligibility requirements:
Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period
Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
Duties and responsibilities
Communicate with Leagues in a professional, respectful manner and be able to convey the purpose of this project
Retrieve and organize energy consumption and cost data from Community League utility bills for the purpose of energy benchmarking
Identify methods to reduce energy consumption at Community League facilities
Provide easily readable information for the purposes of tracking, reporting, and grant applications for energy efficiency and renewable generation at Community League facilities
Develop a system for tracking and monitoring Community League energy and infrastructure data for the purpose of reducing consumption and costs
Identify appropriate AI and data scraping tools can be utilized to optimize data collection and analysis of Community League energy and infrastructure data
Work with the support of the Deputy Executive Director and Climate Resilience Advisor.
Skills and qualifications
Strong organizational skills are required
Strong verbal and written communications skills are required
Familiarity with Google Suite is required
Familiarity with spreadsheet software is required
Basic knowledge of renewable energy technologies is a valuable asset
Hours & Compensation
37.5 hours per week/$22.42 per hour
