Community Employment Practitioner



Lethbridge Family Services (LFS) is seeking a community employment practitioner to join our team! This position will provide support in our DaCapo Disability Services department. In this role, you will support and facilitate the development of skills and competencies to assist participants of RISE to pursue and achieve their employment and work practicum goals. Community employment practitioners support participants to obtain and maintain a broad spectrum of employment and work practicum opportunities.

Community employment practitioners:





assisting as support staff in a classroom, and collaborating with facilitators in carrying out educational plans and training, seeking out and fostering positive working relationships with employers in Lethbridge and southern Alberta, collaborating with the RISE team to identify, secure and maintain appropriate employment and work practicum opportunities, being a conduit/intermediary between participants, employers and program staff ensuring all parties are clear on the expectations of each work experience, communicating with RISE participants, employers and support networks in a professional manner to ensure expectations are being met and challenges addressed, completing tasks in a variety of employment settings, which may include physically completing or demonstrating duties until participants are able to complete tasks independently, and accurately and consistently complete administrative work relating to participant outcomes.


Required skills and qualifications:





a related diploma/degree, and a minimum of one year experience in the field, experience providing support to individuals with barriers to employment, excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to work a flexible schedule and adapt to changes, proficient use of technology and software used in a workplace, and a reliable vehicle, valid driver's license, registration, and insurance ($2,000,000 liability insurance)


All new employees of LFS must provide a police information check and vulnerable sector check dated not less than 90 days prior to the date of hire.





Hours:

35 hours per week, Monday - Friday.

Temporary Position,

6 months or upon the return of the incumbent.
