The Catholic Social Services Supported Independent Living Team is recruiting for a contract full time Community Disability Worker II position.

This is a month to month contract.

Job Summary:

The Community Disability Workers of our SIL (Supported Independent Living) team works with the goal to empower individuals living with a variety of mental health diagnosis, addictions, and developmental disabilities to live quality lives as full citizens in their communities. Our team works side by side with individuals in their own homes and in community settings such as medical offices, banks, or recreation facilities.

This is done through the implementation of support plans to help clients learn coping and self regulation skills, as well as problem solving and day to day living skills that align with their personal goals. As part of our team you will receive training and skills in approaches rooted in positive supports, skill building and development, and the creation of supportive and professional relationships.

We operate from a belief that housing is a primary need, and once that need has been met, issues such as addictions or mental health can be better addressed. Your resourcefulness, creativity, and attention to detail will help an individual find a home, if needed, and to shape their home into an environment that is safe for both them and those working with them.

Please note, as our programs operate 24 hours per day, shift work is required and will include weekends. Hours of work are based on the needs of the individuals, therefore, shifts may vary.

Education & Qualifications:

• A diploma or degree in Human Services or Social Work (or equivalent)
• A minimum 1 year working with persons with developmental disabilities, behavior, mental health & addictions
• Vulnerable Sector Check issued by RCMP or City Police
• Child Intervention Record Check
• Clear and current driver\'s abstract
• A vehicle and valid Class 5 driver\'s license - requirement to transport clients in your personal vehicle
• Proof of vehicle insurance showing $2 million liability coverage
• Proof of current vehicle registration
