Job Description

Catholic Social Services is currently seeking a part time (10 hours/week) Community Disability Worker I, to join our Supported Independent Living team in Lloydminster.

Program Overview:

The SIL (Supported Independent Living) program provides direct support to individuals with developmental disabilities living independently or semi-independently in the community.

Job Summary:

As Community Disability Worker, you will be providing outreach and support to individuals with developmental disabilities living independently in the community. Motivated, organized with good time management skills, you are a part of a self-directed team helping individuals connect to local resources. You will be skilled at supporting independent individuals to learn budgeting skills, access community resources, and any other supports needed to be a valued part of their community. Your strong problem solving skills along with the ability to empower individuals to manage regular daily activities and events make you an ideal candidate.

Hours of work are based on the needs of the individual, some evening and weekend hours maybe required.

Education and Qualifications:

  • Minimum Grade 12 education. A Diploma/Degree in Disability Services, Social Work or Human Services (or equivalent) is considered an asset
  • Minimum 6 months experience working with persons with developmental disabilities
  • Knowledge of community events considered an asset
  • Valid Emergency First Aid/CPR
  • Vulnerable Sector Check from local RCMP or city police detachment
  • Clear and Current Drivers Abstract
  • A vehicle and valid class 5 driver's license - requirement to transport clients in your personal vehicle
  • Proof of Vehicle Insurance showing $2 million liability coverage
  • Proof of Vehicle Registration for insured vehicle
