PEAK SUPPORT SERVICES Job Posting for Community Disability Services Practitioner - Location: Lethbridge

Peak is a not-for-profit organization with a Lethbridge base that provides supports to people with developmental disabilities. Unlocking doors in our community for people with disabilities is Peak's main objective. These doorways include programs that aim to improve quality of life through the strengthening of skills.

We are hiring for Employment Support Services:

Assisting, supporting and encouraging individuals to achieve their personal goals through the development of basic living and related skills (e.g., teaching personal hygiene/grooming, behaviour, household tasks, meal preparation, grocery shopping, banking, appropriate dress, care and maintenance of personal care equipment, etc.), with a view to enhancing the individual's confidence, competence and participation within their social network (community, social, recreational, etc.) and supporting professional development in the workforce. This includes both supporting the individual's life skill development and modeling the desired actions and behaviours.

This program runs from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday, no overnights required

Responsibilities:

Providing coaching/mentoring support to other staff within the agency regarding support of the individuals. This includes ensuring, in collaboration with the Service Coordinators, that agency personnel are aware of the individual's physical, social and recreational environments and taking action to minimize risks and maximize participation; and referring to more experienced resources when appropriate.

Maintaining clear and objective records and completing required reports and other documentation within timelines determined by the agency.

Being aware of and adhering to ethical standards and guidelines, and medical protocols.

Assisting, supporting, and encouraging individuals to exercise their right and responsibility to make life choices and participate actively in meaningful, respectful and authentic relationships that align with and support their goals and aspirations.

The starting wage is

$20.12

per hour.

Mandatory requirements:

Weekday availability, evenings and weekends as needed (8 hours shifts / no overnight).

a valid class 5 driver's license

Clean Criminal Record Check

Confirmation of Insurance with 2,000,000 liability coverage.

Minimum 2 years experience in disability services or related field
