South Arm Community Association Community Development Coordinator



Applications are being accepted for the position of Community Development Coordinator at the South
Arm Community Centre. The successful candidate will be responsible to plan, coordinate and produce
special events, identify and pursue funding opportunities, manage volunteers, create and implement
marketing and community strategies.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Design, plan, coordinate and implement all community events; plan and coordinate all
community event marketing materials
  • Recruit, train, supervise and evaluate volunteers for special events and programs
  • Develop and implement a risk management protocol for special events or projects
  • Design internal and external advertising traditional and new media promotional pieces
  • Create and design media relations
  • Design internal and external advertising traditional and new media promotional pieces
  • Liaise and maintain relationships with schools, businesses and other community organizations
  • Establish and maintain regular communication with volunteers; track volunteer hours and

maintain data base
  • Promote volunteer opportunities with the Community Association
  • Prepare and maintain budgets
  • Identify and create funding opportunities and develop relationships; write grants/proposals
  • Conduct post special event or projects follow up
  • Prepare written reports
  • Create and maintain logistic plans
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Grade 12 graduation plus completion of a diploma in marketing and communication or special
event or related field; and two years experience in marketing and communication, special
event planning, volunteer management, budgeting, and funds development; or a equivalent
combination of education and experience
  • Interpersonal and conflict skills
  • Effective communication skills
  • Basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Graphic Design
  • Police Information Check
  • Standard or emergency first aid & CPR
  • B.C. Driver\xe2\x80\x99s license

DESIREABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Food Safe
  • Serving It Right
  • Experience with supervision of staff and volunteer
  • Experience working with public benefit sector
  • Experience working with community boards, committees and partners


HOURS OF WORK AND WAGES
  • 35 hours/week (some evening and weekend work required)
  • Wage: $26.37/hour currently ($30.91-34.79/hr effective September 1, 2023)
