QUALIFICATIONS




Grade 12 education (MB Standards) Willingness to complete and practice ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) Willingness to complete and practice NVCI (Nonviolent Crisis Intervention) Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Training as delineated in Prairie Mountain Health Policy PPG-00002 CPR Training Province of Manitoba Class 5 Drivers Licence, or equivalent from province of residence, and access to a personal vehicle to provide service within Prairie Mountain Health Proficiency with Microsoft programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint), as well as Internet applications and other Information Technology Demonstrated organizational skills, and the ability to work independently Demonstrated problem solving and decision making skills Demonstrated flexibility to facilitate changes in techniques and procedures in a changing environment Demonstrated knowledge and competence of skills and concepts related to the position Demonstrated communication skills Ability to respect and promote confidentiality Ability to perform the duties of the position on a regular basis Ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population Ability to work effectively and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, clients and within interdisciplinary team
As a member of the Westman Crisis Service team, the Community Crisis Worker I (CWI) assists in the provision of crisis intervention services to clients, their families, and natural supports.The Community Crisis Worker I assists the team in the intake assessment, ongoing treatment planning, the resolution of the crisis, formulation of discharge planning and documentation of all care. The Community Crisis Worker I is responsible for the care and maintenance of the building and property, meals and a miscellany of support tasks.


RESPONSIBILITIES:




Overview:

The CW1 assists the team with intake, assessment, treatment plans, discharge, and follow-up plans to clients and their families in crisis situations.


Answers the phone lines and identifies the needs of the callers;

Assists the Nurse to provide follow-up to ensure service delivery and resolution to immediate crisis;

Directs all queries regarding admission referrals to the Nurse;

Assist the Nurse to complete the admission process, ensures all admission requirements are completed;

Provides empathetic, supportive counselling to clients and their natural supports;

Provide crisis intervention to ensure safety, alleviate symptoms and empower clients;

Assist clients with goal plans;

As directed by the Nurse, accompanies clients to activities or appointments;

Assist with health record documentation, organization and management;

Provides assistance, support, direction, and orientation to new or casual staff as directed;

Other duties as assigned.
