The Opportunity:

Our Community Connection coordinator will be a dynamic, outgoing individual who works well as a team. This person will be driven to plan and achieve goals for the North and South Hubs, bringing them alive with programs and services for families in all priority neighbourhoods. As the coordinator, you will play an essential role in children\xe2\x80\x99s learning and growth, including physical and social development, in a safe and child-centred environment. You will be responsible for programming within YMCA\xe2\x80\x99s Play Groups and Child Minding for community outreach services and oversight of PreK programs located within our two Early Childhood Hubs. You will also look for new connections, partnerships and programs that we can offer children and families.

Responsibilities:

  • Understands and complies with the New Brunswick Child Care Facilities Standards. Plans and implements a consistent child-centred program in accordance with YMCA and New Brunswick operator standards.
  • Under the direction of the Manager of Early Learning and Program Development, oversee all aspects of Play Group, Child Minding Programs, PreK Programs and any other programs connected to the Hubs, reporting to the Manager weekly.
  • Work directly with staff and oversee site checks, follow up on inspection requirements, programming and staff interaction, as well as documentation and record keeping while addressing any issues that may arise.
  • Assist with training all new and current staff inside the Hub to ensure they are knowledgeable and well-trained in their duties with the Y.
  • Understands and complies with the New Brunswick Child Care facilities standards, Child Protection and Abuse Protocols.
  • Plans and implements a consistent child-centred program in accordance with YMCA and New Brunswick standards.
  • Build relationships with children and their families to understand better their specific needs to plan effective strategies.
  • Ensures that all daily routines are followed, documented and completed in a timely fashion.
  • Adheres to the policies and procedures outlined in the Y\xe2\x80\x99s employee and child care policy manuals.
  • Adheres to record keeping as outlined by the Department of Social Development and Department of Education and Early Childhood Development.
  • Ensures that confidentiality is maintained at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned by a supervisor and/or manager.
Skills and Qualifications:
  • ECE Certificate or equivalent training
  • Minimum of 2 years experience working in Child Care, After School or Youth programs.
  • Professional with a strong work ethic and organizational skills.
  • Flexibility regarding assigned working hours, particularly regarding split shifts and site locations. Individuals may be required to work weekends.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, including written and verbal, and a team player.
  • Computer literate and able to function within Microsoft Office and Windows environments.
  • Successful candidates are required to have their own transportation to and from all working locations. Having a reliable vehicle for transportation is a must.
  • Current First Aid and CPR an asset or willingness to obtain.
