What You'll Do The Communicative Disorders Assistant ("CDA") provides client care and treatment

under the supervision of Speech-Language Pathologists. The Communicative Disorders

Assistant is responsible for speech and language service delivery, targeting, care plan

goals established by the Speech Language Pathologist. The Communicative Disorders

Assistant may work with individuals or groups to help achieve optimal level of

communication ability. The Communicative Disorders Assistant is also a programming

resource for centre and community programs.Services are provided in a variety of

settings. The position is based in Brantford and Haldimand Norfolk and includes service

provision in Brant, Haldimand and Norfolk Counties. Travel is required within the

catchment area.

oProvide speech-language therapy with consultation and supervision from staff speech

language pathologists.

oOrganize and maintain the department's test and materials cupboards, filing cabinets

and equipment supplies. Make therapy materials as required.

oParticipate as a member of the department and transdisciplinary teams/committees to

promote quality service for children.

oProvide consultation, training, and/or education to clients, their caregivers and schools

and other agencies under supervision of staff speech language pathologists.

Education, Qualifications and Certifications

Preferred: Graduate Certificate Communicative Disorders Assistant.Eligible for membership in the Communicative Disorders Assistant Association of Canada.

Minimum: Equivalency as per guidelines set by College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario Experience and Knowledge Preferred: Experience in paediatrics, especially those with physical and/or developmental disabilities is preferred but not essentialMinimum: Related experience working with children/youth with special needs
