Communication Technologist
Full Time, Seasonal - 35 hours per week

The position
The successful candidate will support Kawartha Conservation through content creation, digital storytelling, and communications support for watershed programs, community events and special initiatives.
Responsibilities include
Possess the knowledge and experience relevant to the responsibilities of the position; identify knowledge gaps and seek out professional development; engage in continuing education and professional networks that elevate your expertise; utilize your expertise in the key functions of your position; transfer knowledge to contribute to the success of others; enhance and advance your professional career. Apply your expertise in the following responsibilities:
Assist with daily property maintenance of five conservation areas. This includes mowing, trail trimming, landscaping, maintaining facility and property cleanliness.
Support habitat restoration projects on Conservation Lands. This will include planting species at risk, managing invasive species, weekly tending activities and the monitoring and reporting aspects of restoration projects.
Assist with the repair and maintenance of infrastructure. This will include repairing boardwalks, washrooms, and installing signage amongst other projects.
Implement a suite of trail maintenance activities. This will include aspects of trail decommissioning, trail creation, and ongoing trail maintenance.
Required Knowledge/Expertise/Skills
Post-secondary education in journalism, public relations, photography and/or videography
Excellent writing skills
Knowledge of environmental initiatives and programs at Kawartha Conservation
Solid knowledge, understanding and demonstrated use of social media applications
Excellent organizational, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Good working knowledge of software applications especially Microsoft Office and Teams
Familiarity with website and social media analytic tools
Familiarity with Google Analytics an asset
Familiarity with Google AdWords an asset
Effective communication skills with individuals at all levels of an organization
An enthusiastic team player
Valid M.T.O. driver's license with a clean driving record
Conditions of employment
Prior to the start date, the successful candidate is required to complete a satisfactory drivers abstract and Canadian Criminal Record Check.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the Canada Summer Jobs program, applicants must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment.
