Reporting to the Manager, Communications Planning, Corporate Affairs the Communications Specialist provides project management, research, writing and editing support for external communications activities. The scope includes, but is not limited to, management of Teck\'s visual digital asset platform, planning and implementing photography and videography shoots, and supporting the editing and production related to Teck\'s suite of annual reporting documents.

We are looking for an experienced communication professional who brings creativity, enthusiasm and a strategic outlook to projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the principles and practices of effective communications, brand management and public relations.

Responsibilities

Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures

Provides project management for a variety of communication projects and supports the implementation of communication plans

Writes, edits and proofreads a variety of communication materials

Oversees the company\'s visual digital asset platform including system permissions, approvals and leading photography and videography contracts and legal releases

Oversee advertising requests, bookings and ad development

Coordinate engagement with internal groups for drafting and completion of Teck\'s Annual Report, including coordinating Teck management review

Ensure continuity and consistency of corporate visual and branding standards in design and written materials

Participate in the communications crisis management team

Participates in planning and implementation of company events as needed

Support Corporate Affairs on other projects and assignments as the need arises

Qualifications

Minimum 5 years\' experience in the field of corporate communications, media or public relations

Post-secondary education in the area of communications, journalism, or public relations or equivalent experience

Excellent communication skills, specifically writing and presentation skills

Solid understanding of advertising and social media

Experience leading or working on technical projects

Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously

Comfortable advising and making recommendations to all levels of management

Proficiency in Spanish is considered an asset

Technical Competencies

Advanced writing skills and ability to proofread materials with a high degree of accuracy

Experience in layout, printing processes, photography and videography

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint

Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat Professional and InDesign an asset
