Are you ready for the next step in your career? And interested in being part of a dynamic team of communicators who provide a wide variety of communications services to the Commission? The Communication and Education Division of the is hiring a Communications Specialist.

Reporting to the Manager, Investor Education and Engagement (IE&E), you will write and edit content for investor education initiatives, and work on various communications projects, events, and outreach activit ies. The successful candidate is a dynamic communicator who develops and executes communications strategies and tactics to deliver investment education tools and resources to British Columbians.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Writing and editing investor education content for web, social media, and external communications
  • Leading administration of the BCSC\xe2\x80\x99s social media channels including daily monitoring, and working with the IE&E team on engagement, risk management, social content planning and posting
  • Identifying online trends and planning social media campaigns to build online connections, strengthen online presence, and increase awareness of the BCSC
  • Participating in the development of digital campaigns and website improvements to support the BCSC\xe2\x80\x99s investor education initiatives and outreach programs
  • Providing quality assurance support for website and digital initiatives
  • Working with stakeholders and outreach partners on events, meetings, seminars and other related activities
  • Taking and coordinating staff photography, and assisting with in-house or vendor-produced videos
  • Publishing WordPress content to InvestRight.org, and providing support for the BCSC\xe2\x80\x99s intranet and corporate website when required.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate has:
  • A degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Online Education or a related discipline
  • Three to five (3-5) years of recent, related experience
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofing skills, including writing for websites, blogs, and newsletters
  • Experience with content management systems (WordPress), e-mail marketing (Envoke) and social media scheduling (Hootsuite)
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite applications (Premiere Pro, Photoshop InDesign, Illustrator, etc.)
  • Experience with video production and photography for social media and for corporate settings
  • MS Office skills including spreadsheet development and management, and database management
  • Experience producing Google Analytics (GA) reports and analyzing GA data
Other assets
  • Familiarity with social media, content strategy, digital marketing, and social ads
  • Financial services industry experience or knowledge of Canadian Securities considered an asset
