Reporting to the Manager of Public Affairs & Communications, the Communications Specialist, Special Projects and Digital Communications, supports Cambridge Memorial Hospital\xe2\x80\x99s communication needs for internal audiences and those within the community. This full-time position assumes responsibility for creating digital content for the hospital\xe2\x80\x99s fast growing social media channels. Focusing on hospital culture and the many accomplishments of its staff, the specialist will weave the stories that will promote the hospital as a values-based organization. The Specialist will also support strategically important corporate priorities like the Wellness & Wellbeing Program and Diversity, Equity and Inclusivity initiatives and events. The Specialist will also create digital content for newsletters, website, CMHnet (CMH\xe2\x80\x99s intranet) and social media channels with a focus on celebrating hospital culture and its many accomplishments.

This is an eight-month contract with possibility of permanent full-time.

Duties
  • Create high quality content for internal/external audiences that will include:
  • Interviewing subject matter experts, staff, volunteers, physicians, members of the community, etc.
  • Writing and storytelling
  • Designing and publishing targeted content to CMHnet and its social media channels, including LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
  • Empower others to create stories for the website, CMHnet, social media channels, employee newsletter and other internal/external publications.
  • Help monitor and coordinate social media posts and requests; work with manager to address concerns and feedback made through social media channels
  • Support the communication for the Wellness & Wellbeing program.
  • Support the communication for the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion program
  • Provide a summary of projects, action plans, story developments and activities as needed to leadership and Board of Directors.
  • Update communication products and material for hospital\xe2\x80\x99s websites and when needed, brochures, briefing notes and communications.
  • Collaborate with the CMH Foundation, CMH Volunteer Association and other partners on assigned communications initiatives.
  • Support other departmental projects and needs as assigned
  • Visit clinical departments and corporate and help promote corporate initiatives at huddles and at team meetings.
  • Assist internal clients with their efforts to \xe2\x80\x9cfind the story\xe2\x80\x9d; assess the impact, advise on how to best communicate the information and recommend appropriate channels for distribution
  • Analyze complex ideas and information and synthesize into simple, digestible communication products, for example: infographics, event posters, tip sheets, summaries, briefing documents
  • Provide communications planning advice and support to hospital corporate initiatives.
  • Provide advice, consultation and support on organizational/internal communications projects
  • Provide event and coordination support for special projects, including community events
  • Provide back-up support and assist with communications during emergency and crisis situations, which may include media and government relations.
Education
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in communications, public relations, journalism or related field and 5 years of experience in corporate communications, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Qualifications
  • Excellent written, listening and presentation skills
  • Proficiency with developing graphics, videos and tactics using Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite
  • Proficiency publishing to multiple social media platforms at strategically opportune times
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge and experience using SharePoint and Drupal 9,10
  • Positive team player who works collaboratively with stakeholders across the hospital
  • Highly motivated and demonstrated success in taking initiative and problem solving
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment and effectively manage multiple competing requests with great attention to detail
  • Present ideas and communication plans clearly and articulately to key audiences
  • Maintains professionalism and represents the hospital with diplomacy
