What will you do?





Reporting to the Director, External Relations, the Communications Specialist will develop compelling and tailored content that engages, educates, and empowers our construction industry partners through the organization's communication channels. The Position will serve as the primary storyteller for the organization and will manage, advise, and work alongside diverse stakeholder groups to create and develop physical and digital media content to attract and engage organization's Members and stakeholder groups.

Job Responsibilities




Develop and lead the execution of communications for business priorities and initiatives, calling on skills in the following areas: client consultation, writing, editing, marketing, budgeting and evaluation. Create, edit, and distribute compelling content across media releases, newsletters (digital and print), social media channels, scripts, long form content and website using Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress, and Canva. Ensure brand consistency and audience engagement through visually appealing and well-crafted digital assets tailored for each platform. Advance recommendations that demonstrate how communications can directly support operational objectives. Plan production schedules and workflow for the full-cycle design process. Select the appropriate media and materials (e.g. paper, ink, etc.) for communications. Inspect proofs for accuracy and adherence to corporate brand standards. Support the development of communication plans and strategies. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve cohesive messaging and support organizational goals. Verify all content aligns with organizational brand standards and upholds all legal and legislative standards. Keep up to date with developments in communication trends, analytics, platforms, and established best practices.

Qualifications




Post-secondary education in Public Relations, Communications or related discipline from a recognized post-secondary institution. Minimum of five (5) years of related communications experience. Strong proficiency using graphic design platforms and tools, including Canva, the Adobe Creative Suite, and WordPress. Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including SharePoint, Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Precision in managing content, maintaining accuracy and consistency. Working knowledge of CP Style. Time management skills, organizational skills, and the ability to work on multiple projects with various deadlines. Strong attention to detail to ensure that all client and stakeholder specifications are met and free of error. Creative mindset and the ability to bring a design to life with simple instructions. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with varying workload and an environment which regularly undergoes change (both planned and unplanned) to accommodate member needs and/or organizational circumstances. Familiarity with the construction industry and an understanding of current issues is an asset. Valid Alberta Class 5 Drivers License (or equivalent).
